The Rams need to get the offense untracked earlier in games. They can't keep tempting fate by letting teams hang around. I still think AZ will self destruct before the end of the regular season. Remember the Cards had 11 wins in 2021 and still ended up losing to the Rams in the wildcard round. by ramsman34 1 week 2 days ago Total posts: 9328 Joined: Apr 16 2015 Back in LA baby! Our offense has 1 first quarter TD this year (vs Minn). We only have 2 first quarter FGs so we're averaging 1.4 points in the first quarter. That's bad but there's more. We have 7 first half TDs and 7 first half FGs for a whopping total of 70 points (7.7 pts avg in the first half). The good news is.....the D has scored 7 points in the first half bringing our average up to 8.5!!! And yet without the benefit of early leads, our D has been performing well. How will they play if we manage to take early leads and add to them? We're in some serious need of complimentary football.....and before the season if somebody said that was going to be a problem, we'd all think it was because of our young D. Our D has allowed 8 first quarter TDs and 0 FGs in 9 games. Combine that with 5 in the second quarter along with 7 FGs and we're averaging 12.4 points allowed in the first half. The better news is our D is allowing just 11.1 points per game in the second half (and OT). An offense as talented as we have should definitely be scoring more than 23.5 PPG. Hell take into consideration our D has scored 23 point themselves and it's a net of 21.0 PPG the offense has had to overcome. Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. Most of all Stafford looked a hell of a lot more comfortable behind this iteration of the OL. Even McClendon looked fine at RT giving them depth at the position after Havenstein returns. If Limmer looks this good as a rookie, the outlook for him to be the starter long term looks very bright as he should only get better. Alaric needs to continue to show consistency particularly against top competition. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they try to sign Cam Robinson next season. If this version of the OL can simply stay healthy for the rest of the season it I have no doubt the Rams make the playoffs and then they can be very dangerous. This team if they stay healthy can compete with anyone left on their schedule. The Bills look like the biggest test remaining, though all the teams in the NFCW can't be overlooked. Philly looks good one moment and very average the next. Catch them on a down week and they can be beaten. Yeah the Rams are in the thick of the NFCW race and it's debateable if a wildcard will come from this division. I can see that Shula's defense is complex in how he is constantly adjusting as the game goes on. It's why they give up early scores but settle down and do a pretty good job in slowing the opposing offenses. Durant continues to flash although his consistency is what needs to be improved. I found it interesting Jimmy G got a game ball. Apparently, he provided good intel. I see him on the team next year, either as a bridge for a rookie or backup again if they sign someone like Darnold. The value of having a good backup at QB can't be understated. I was elated that J. Jack got benched. IMO Dedich is backup to Limmer and both OGs. I think they activated Christian to be the swing OT as he can play both sides. I think that if Leveston can play as well as Limmer and Dedich, along with Christian they probably have their depth OL for next year. by ramsman34 3 days 6 hours ago Total posts: 9328 Joined: Apr 16 2015 Back in LA baby! There's still time for the OL to come together, starting Sunday in Foxborough.Ready for some pessimism? Our offense has been outscored by opposing offenses in 7 of 9 games. But isn't it about time the offense played 2 good games in a row again? 7 TDs vs Las Vegas and Minnesota, 6 TDs the last 3 games. We've been talking about it for a while but the offense has to start faster. The defense is gonna allow a couple of TDs and a couple of FGs most Sundays but they have not had the luxury of playing with a decent lead most weeks.Totally agree. Probability says that they are due for a game where the score early and put up over 30. That would be monstrous against the Eagles. If you can neutralize Saquan by putting them in a deep hole score wise - the defense should be able to make Hurts’ life miserable. But that’s a big if. Things are disjointed but that's because of all the new moving pieces. As the defense starts to really understand what the coaches are preaching they will play faster and anticipate better.
