I wonder if he'll end up head coach of another university or an assistant in the NFL?

I think Staff's wife may put her foot down. He's got a beautiful family, he got that final notch on his gun handle...what's left? Does he really want to risk his noggin for a potential rebuilding year in '23?

Staff coming back is predicated on recovery and then risk to further damage. If those boxes are checked the. It’s the family talk. Family first so Wife has to sign off. Then, and looming just as large, is what the Rams do to greatly improve/solidify the OL and and improve key areas of the team, and if no one elite retires.

That is a lot of “ifs”. And that is a lot of work the Rams have to do.

And if they like Baker, they have to be able to re sign him - easier if as the starter vs back up.

This is going to be a wild off-season. Could be right back in the SB convo, or in full rebuild mode. Rather have either than barely a .500 team, frankly.

Since they hired McVay, they've shown an ability to acquire players needed most every season. Whitworth and Watkins. Talib & Peters. CJ Anderson. Ramsey. Corbett. Stafford. Michel. OBJ. Miller. Mayfield. Sure, they don't get them all (Burns, McCaffrey) but it's not for lack of trying. And that's all you can ask, as a fan.

Both dont get the athletes we use too, but I know in Cal's case it has to do with the regime. Why do you extend a losing head coach 4 + years???

That makes sense about Shaw, I wonder if he still wants to coach in the in college or NFL.

Cal's Basketball team is 0-10 so far lol

The one thing I really liked about Shaw was that he wanted to be at Stanford, not use it as a stepping stone to a better opportunity. All the previous head coaches were either terrible or waiting to jump to a better option. Shaw quitting was a surprise to me.

USC and UCLA fleeing the PAC-12 didn't help the prestige of the conference.

He may have simply tired of beating his head against the wall with the academic requirements. That's gotta get old after a decade or so. Wasn't he rumored to be in line for something with the Rams? I don't remember if that was pre McVay or later. I would love to see him come aboard....he has experience coaching RBs, TEs and QBs. I would think he could help with the run game.

I don't recall the rumors, but rumors were quashed quickly by Shaw who had always stated that he was at his dream job...Stanford.

Going on near a whole quarter-century ago, a perennial-NFL-loser Owner, penny-pinching Georgia TheBlackWidow Frontiere's feckless lackeys signed a QB from unknown WattsaMatta U (Northern Iowa), whose UDFA QBing stints included the Iowa Barnstormers and the Amsterdam Admirals, and who augmented his football earnings by stocking grocery shelves.

This past Tuesday afternoon, ideal NFL Owner Stan MegaBucks Kroenke's innovative F'emPicks/SBLVI-Winning Braintrust signed a QB from QB Factory Oklahoma, where he'd won the Heisman, whose ProFootball stops included RadioCity MusicHall where he was picked #1 overall, the Cleveland Browns & Carolina Panthers and who augments his mega football bucks with Car Insurance PosterBoy Advertising millions......

now before we can talk about Baker winning SuperBowl LVIII....
we need for Mayfield's wife to shave her hair, dye her scalp stubble purple, start wearing feathery boa's, and start calling into ShockJock Sports Radio Stations all over the country dissing Reggie's medical credentials, and slurring Ram Ownership.....

then, and only then, can we catch the 1999 GSOT Lightning-In-A-Bottle again!!! ;) :arrow2: :lol2:
