I'm glad Mrs. Snack doesn't know the definition of obdurate. That would be her favorite word for me if she ever found out.

If I followed that right, you're saying that PFF counts separate players as generating pressure (so for example if Donald and Miller both pressure the qb on the same play, that counts as 2). In contrast PFR just counts the fact that the qb is pressured (so it doesn't matter if it's either Donald or Miller or both, each of those would just count as 1).

In a lot of previous discussion I have been in about qbs under pressure, the tendency was to take PFF stats as the norm. Not having access to PFF I always just used PFR stats. All I ever said before whenever it came up is just that PFF and PFR numbers were different. That's all, just that they were different. According to your argument here, PFR numbers might actually make more sense.

So....
about those glowing PFF and PFR reports on the stellar 2021 Ram OL pass protection of Matt Stafford....

um, just miscalculations by the PFF & PFR stats guys??
....or did our OL attend an all night tequila party last night???!!! :?

Hopefully they play much better against Zona next week!

We should have plugged Tutu in to bolster that line play.

the rams won 12 games (only 2 teams won more), will finish 3rd in offensive scoring in the nfc, and won the nfc west - not too bad for a problematic oline! hell, if the rams had an above average oline it would probably be an embarrassment of riches, leading to a certain 16-1 or 17-0 season!

seriously tho, like all of you guys i watch quite a bit of nfl football, but i'm not seeing a lot of examples of the type of top-tier oline some think the rams should have, if they were smarter, if they knew what they were doing on draft day? who has these top olines, who are the belles of the ball, the envy of the nfl?

re today being yet another example of the rams oline woes, i dunno, the rams rolled to 17 first half points, were on pace to score 34, scored with relative ease on 3 of their 4 first half drives, while stafford put up ridiculous numbers including a 94% completion rate and a 146.1 qb rating... heck, this season only one team scored more first half points on the niners than the 17 the rams hung on them today, the rams had those mooks reeling, it was a bad matchup alright, for the niners! but it of course went down the shitter!

i saw a tentative stafford today, wanted to take shots downfield but held the ball instead of forcing it when the looks weren't there, ended up with some coverage sacks, mcvay probably drilled the turnover thing into him, i.e. that was the only way the niners could beat them.

i also saw a goofy game plan in which mcvay was going to beat the niners at their own game, run the ball down their throats, but it was largely unsuccessful in terms of positive yards, ate up a bunch of time (which the niners loved), and by the time the second half rolled around mcvay didn't seem quite sure what the hell to do.

let's go get those 1-4 in their last 5 cardinals!

Good step back off the ledge post a-1.
The inability to beat SF is confounding though. It must be tough to be a Rams fan in your neck of the woods these past few years.

So the fact that the Rams could not run effectively on SF all day....that was McVay's fault? :?

Here I thought our OL were supposed to make holes for Michel & Akers! :| My bad. :lol2:

Nota Bene: hey, a little Italian never hurts, eh!;)
Take out Cooper Kupp's 18 yard jet sweep and our Yds Rushing Total vs SF plummets to 46 yards from 64.....for a scintillating 1.77 YPC on 26 non-jet sweep carries IIRC.
AND....It's not like Michel and Akers are JAGs either!

Eyeball Test
That Ram OL today had zero push running the ball, and PassPro wise....
5 sacks, 8 TFL, and 13 QB Hits is a pretty crappy performance.
Blame it on McVay, play-calling, Stafford holding the ball too long, what have you....
but the Eyeball Test showed our OL slapped around by SF D front. Sad, but true.

Yeah, yeah...we won 12 games, but we don't win the Division (thanks Seattle!) with that shitshow OL play today......nor host a Playoff Game....had the Seahawks not bailed us out!
Oh, and I know....the NFL is a hyper-competitive league!!! :idea2:
Here's another one....count our blessings! Here's one:
Joe Buck announced that Matthew Stafford eclipsed the Rams record for most passing yards in a season today. 8-) Not bad for a first year guy in the system, eh! :idea2: :arrow2: :D

As always, JMO.
