I could definitely be wrong about this but it seems like if you go to Multiview, say 4 games at once, you're actually using 4 streams, 4x the data. With my streaming box getting internet wirelessly from the modem in another room, it doesn't seem to be able to keep up for my setup.

One game, or show, i'm fine.

I miss Andrew Siciliano but i think the NFL Redzone shows more stuff. It jumps around a lot more which is a little disconcerting but ultimately better i think.

But like everything else, it's only week 1...

Unless you have a really old Wi-Fi router the bandwidth bottleneck is usually the Wi-Fi modem in your TV/set top box, or internet service to your house.

I use a newer Apple TV box, Orbi router, and 1000Mbs internet. I have no issues at all with 4 game multiview.

Do you use the YouTube TV app or straight up YouTube? I use YouTube TV and in the “home“ menu they provide links to all the different combinations of multiview. Once watching a multi view stream, you can select one of the panels and you will get the audio for that game. If you hit the enter button, it will dive down into that game and allow you to watch it full screen.

I don’t know if this is true in the YouTube app.

rams74 wrote:Since it was week 1, I watched the Rams' game in real time (well, as close to real time as streaming is), and I had no problems with YouTube Sunday Ticket.

But, afterwards, I started the game again from the YouTube DVR recording. And as expected, it's not great for fast-forwarding. DirecTV's DVR is way better. But we knew that. No surprise there.

There's also a "key plays" replay version of the recorded game. And that works fine, but it's similar to watching highlights. You see scoring plays (and other "key" plays), but you get no sense for how the team got to the scoring play to begin with. It's missing context. For what it is, it's a nice feature.

As for YouTube Sunday Ticket's multiview feature, it's nice to see 4 games at the same time on one screen. But I had been under the impression that you could pick which 4 games you wanted to see. And that's not the case. YouTube decides which 4 games you can watch. And locally blacked-out network games are not included in the multiview options. When DirecTV had Sunday Ticket, channel 702 showed up to 8 games on one screen, and they DID include locally blacked-out network games in their multiview.

I'm not complaining (anymore) about YouTube's Sunday Ticket, since I did enough of that already in the past. Just giving a brief review and some comparisons.

I definitely need to get a better signal from my ATT router to my Apple TV. Maybe i'll move stuff around, maybe get a better router, might start with running a cable to see how much of a difference it makes. I also have 100Mbs. Like i said, it only seems to be an issue with the multicasts but i haven't really done it enough to even be sure about that.

Do you have any idea if i'm right about the multicast using data like multiple streams would?

I got the Sunday Ticket Primetime Channel package (the standalone ala carte package). But by using the YouTube TV app, I get the DVR capabilities even though I don't have YouTube TV. I kinda went back and forth between YouTube app and YouTube TV app, just to see what the differences were.

I thought that maybe in the YouTube TV app they might include network games (the locally blacked-out games) in the multiview options, but they didn't.

I still have DirecTV for everything else, so it seemed like the only way to get the network games (without YTTV) was go to DirecTV network channels.

Otherwise, the YouTube multiview works pretty much the same way DirecTV's game mix on channel 702 worked.

Are you getting RedZone via DTV or YT?

Both, actually. In DirecTV, I had to add Sports Pack to get NFL Network and RedZone (which used to be both included when you had Sunday Ticket).

But while I'm in YouTube for Sunday Ticket anyway, it's simpler to use the YouTube RedZone. RedZone is also included in some of the multiview options, so that's kind of handy.

This new sports pack to get NFL Network is another reason for me not to regret leaving DTV for YT. There are some definite downsides though, the biggest one is i don't get SportsNet so no Dodgers for me. I am liking the YT DVR/Library but of course all the pause/Rew/FF type stuff is worse with streaming.

But probably the biggest thing i've come to realize is how little TV i watch outside of sports. Almost all of the shows i watch are on streaming services and i get my news/weather etc., for the most part, from the internet.

Well, being out of market, I've never had the option to get SportsNet, so no Dodgers for me, either. :(

NFL Network was the best way for me to see the preseason games, so I added Sports Pack. I do like NFLN, anyway, though, so I'm not sure if I'm going to drop it now or not. But yes, it's a bad deal for just one channel.

Amen to all of that.
