1. How is a play run but you can go back and say the red flag was thrown, never seen that ever?!?!?
2. How is a penalty unaccepted and then that team change their mind and accepts the penalty (after seeing our offense go on the field)???

Neither have I but I haven't gone full CT yet. The NFL has too much to lose for their to even be a hint of impropriety.

Don't give me wrong… I totally agree with you (your #2 above). I just don't believe it's part of some NFL conspiracy. And I certainly would not spend my time and money on the NFL if I did.

In terms of your first point, I don't think I've seen it either, but if they truly threw the flag in time and somehow the officials did not see it, it seems fair that they should get the challenge.

Yep not into conspiracy either. I understand that the officials missed the very late red flag, but come on once the play is run the play is run. You cant go back in time, but I guess you can. There wasnt a whistle.

I often tell people, "If you watch Rams games you will see things you do not see in any other game." Kind of a treat that we got two of them!

I get being "by the book" here, but I'd also like to remind folks of the Cowboys 2022 game where the Cowboys were allowed to correct their botching of the coin toss decision .. this is just one of those things where some teams get the benefit of the doubt, and some don't. The Rams tend not to, for whatever reason - call it a residual of the "Kill Football in St. Louis" era, lol. I tend to think it's a lot of media influencing how refs think of teams and that if you are sloppy team, you won't get borderline decisions.

Well - then you better continue not believing it then! You'd look pretty foolish otherwise! (Ducks and hides)

That said, the NFL doesn't try to engineer outcomes NEARLY as much as they used to .. I think Goodell recognized that was a ticking time bomb, one he inherited from Tagliabue .. it's a topic for another thread but I liked how moklerman (RIP) put it, which I kind of distill down into: The combined valuation of the NFL is close to one hundred billion dollars, there is a whole butt load of revenue shared equally among them; if you think 32 billionaires are not laser focused on maximizing that investment, you're kidding yourself.

Yeah, I thought it was kind of shady too. But the explanations were....
1. If the flag is in the air before the snap, it's good
2. If the ref declined the penalty without asking the HC, then yeah, it's okay

But on that last point, even Collinsworth said it was shady because of the way it went down. The ref said "declined" and it wasn't until the Rams offense stayed out on the field that Siriani bitched. The ref should have said, "no you declined it, so it's a done deal".

Here's some Jourdan:

Jourdan Rodrigue

Rams OL per TruMedia: 13 pressures, five sacks and only a 16.7% blitz rate as noted in the column. Eagles knew how much attention Carter would demand vs Limmer + guard combo and other guys won one-on-one matchups on the back side of those double teams. Rushing just four meant erasing route layers.

Kurt Warner used to say the way to beat the GSOT was to get pressure with your front 4...

100% we got whipped by only four, it was shades of the niners a couple years back. It is a little of what we have been doing with our 4/5 man defensive front. It and the way their o-line whipped us was why we lost.

Even rushing 4, I still don’t see why screens, jets and jet actions weren’t called. Screens create vertical and /or horizontal space. Jets, horizontal. I don’t get some of the “answers” the O deploys when they can’t block well enough.

What are the answers bc it’s all about scheme now. Can’t really change the players.
