Would not surprise me at all to see Alaric Jackson slide to LT once Shelton is back if Boom keeps giving up the pressures like he has.

If that happened what does it say about Noteboom's future with the Rams, not to mention his sweet contract?

This is Noteboom's 5th year. He should not be getting the “he's raw and will develop treatment.”

It’s very possible that he’s never going to be a solid starter, something the Rams bet on.

I disagree.

I'd also caution that sites like PFF that attempt to quantify OL performance often are unaware of blocking schemes and, consequently, will assign "pressures" to the wrong person.

Are you saying Noteboom has been playing solid LT? If so, based on what?

Looking more and more like the majority of these mid to late rd o-line picks won't develop into solid players . There is a reason they were not considered top tier talent. Ceiling only so high no matter how you coach them.

It’s possible to find quality OL in mid to late rounds but odds are much better in top 2 rounds. But, that’s not part of Rams model.

Problem here is they took it too far.

McVay:
"I think it’s been some things that are in alignment with what we expect from Joe,” McVay said. “Then there’s some things that he could do at a higher level. I think he’d be the first to be able to tell you that. The consistency is something that we’re hunting up from all of our players. But the good thing is that you’ve seen enough positives over the course of Joe’s career to really be able to build on it. Let’s learn from those things. He still is a young developing player, but we want to be able to see that growth and maturation occur a little bit more quickly. I do have a lot of confidence in Joe that that will get done."

You can call that "coach speak" if you wish, but that does not sound like a change is forthcoming.

Rams Super Bowl OL:

Whitworth: Free Agent (originally a 2nd round pick)
Edwards: 5th Round Pick
Allen: 4th Round Pick
Corbett: Trade (originally a 2nd round pick)
Havenstein: 2nd Round Pick

I'd say their model is varied, no?

Have the Rams invested to many resources in the center position?

Niners Jake Brendel:

Dallas Cowboys
Brendel was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys after the 2016 NFL Draft on May 6.[10] On September 3, 2016, he was released by the Cowboys.[13] The next day, he was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad.[14] He was released from the practice squad with an injury settlement on September 29.[15]

Miami Dolphins
On October 11, 2016, Brendel was signed to the Miami Dolphins' practice squad.[16] He was promoted to the active roster on November 19.[17] He appeared in one game.

In 2017, he appeared in all 16 games as a backup center.

On September 2, 2018, Brendel was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury.[18] He was activated off injured reserve on November 2.[19] He played in four games, starting three at left guard and center due to injuries. He was placed back on injured reserve with a calf injury on December 12, 2018.[20]

Denver Broncos
On April 18, 2019, Brendel signed with the Denver Broncos.[21] He was released on August 31.[22]

Baltimore Ravens
On November 27, 2019, Brendel was signed by the Baltimore Ravens, but was released three days later on November 30.[23]

San Francisco 49ers
On February 7, 2020, Brendel was signed by the San Francisco 49ers.[24] On August 6, Brendel announced he would opt out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[25]

On August 31, 2021, Brendel was waived during final roster cuts.[26]

On March 9, 2022, Brendel re-signed with the 49ers.[27]
