By the March owner's meetings (March 20). But, I expect if they are going to move they will announce it soon.

I do not believe the option expiration is tied to the move date. In other words...

1. They need to decide in March ONLY if they want to move by start of 2016.
2. Yet, they have 1 year to execute their option. As long as they exercise, I believe move date can be anytime up to the start of the 2019 season
3. If SD fails to exercise option, and Raiders do, I am not sure what season Raiders have to move by.

1. Yes

2. Yes, but in Jan. of 17', if they execute their option, they'll play somewhere in LA in 17'. They aren't going to still play in SD after committing to play in Inglewood stadium.

My point re #2 is that move date is not linked to option acceptance/expiration date.

The reason that this is important is because I still believe this is a leverage play. Chargers and Rams can exercise option next week, with a move date set for 2019. In the mean time, the Chargers can leverage this to get a downtown SD stadium while keeping Raiders away, or in limbo.

The Chargers should STFU about LA and say they are staying this year and onward depending on how the vote goes, 'because they would really prefer it that way'. Not everyone in SD will forgive them, but here, who cares?
Then if it all falls apart in Diego, strike the deal with the Rams.

The Chargers have been given one year to work out a deal with the Rams that would also bring them to Inglewood. The Raiders, who agreed to disband a joint-venture with the Chargers, will be given the first option to move to Los Angeles if the Chargers fail to work out a deal."

That's worded loosely but how I remember it being reported numerous times. It indicates they only have to strike a deal, not move in.

To encourage the Rams to make a deal with a second team, the resolution barred the Rams from selling personal seat licenses, suites or naming rights until February 2017 unless another NFL team joins them before then."

Apparently the owners had been working on a deal like this for 6 months.

Or did the shield just want the Raiders out of it? Clear the way for the Dean..

Raiders to SD noise is Davis v Spanos.. lol

And didn't Spanos hate Hollywood Park?

They weren't loyal, they had no other option.
They knew that separate, they were screwed.

Dont know about that. The way I see it, Spanos used Davis and now Davis has it figured out.

That's my general feeling as well. I think Davis is starting to realize he isn't wealthy enough to play with the big boys as the NFL keeps progressing the way it is.

He now has two possible alternatives in the future and/or more money for a solution in Oakland.

Did Spanos look like he was happy with the outcome?

Spanos looked absolutely devastated, possibly my favorite part, that and Spanos and Davis sneaking off of the dais...

dais... ??
The happy camper partners through thick and thin are now adversaries. Gotta love that.

So LA. SD or new $$ in Oakland. Which seems like the most likely? The amount of money to move could be tough on Davis which makes selling to another equity partner in Oakland likely the best bet along with that $100M from the NFL plus the G4.

We've discussed SD-Spanos who would be a fool (imo) to move,, but he must think the Chargers are going to increase enough to risk it. Would they really increase enough without the stadium and other revenues other than game day and TV? I doubt he can afford to move and partner either . Why not go into debt in your own market?

I will be surprised if the chargers announce moving to LA this coming week.

I hope ESK is lining up all the naming rights candidates and corporate sponsors while all of this is unfolding. Keep that edge.

Once again, I agree with Hacksaw. :)

I see only Rams in LA

Chargers in San Diego

Raiders in Oakland

The naming rights is going to be a huge deal. Likely a little while before we find out. No need to rush this like they did in trying to justify the Ginga type financing in St Louis. I really hope it is not a car rental company.
