Why doesn't this surprise me? Gruden has always been edgy. His printed comments were disrespectful and condescending no doubt, but was any of what he expressed accurate? Is JG the only one? Either way, Gruden was decent coach, but more of a personality now days anyway. I hope the hate and diatribe will simmer down someday.

Michael Sam takes high road after vile emails from Jon Gruden come to light

One of the NFL's most stunning falls from grace in recent history roped in the league's first openly gay draftee.

Among the many vile things that Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden wrote in years-old emails was a castigation of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for allegedly pressuring then-Rams coach Jeff Fisher to draft "queers," an obvious reference to former Rams training camp defensive end Michael Sam.

Gruden has since announced his resignation, ending a saga that began with the publishing of a racist email about NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith. The crack about Sam came in a report from The New York Times on Monday, which also included anti-gay and misogynistic slurs.

The Sam remark in particular stood out considering Monday also happened to be National Coming Out Day, something people on social media noted. One user decided to praise Sam rather than acknowledge Gruden, an idea Sam appeared to endorse with his first tweet since the Times report:

Gruden's resignation ended up taking all of 58 minutes after the publishing of his emails. Less than an hour after the editors at the Times hit "publish," NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Gruden had informed his coaching staff he planned to resign as Las Vegas Raiders head coach.

I'm betting they'll make a concerted effort to bring in a minority candidate, which is good, because right now I think two of the best candidates out there are Eric Bienemy (Chiefs OC) and Byron Leftwich (Bucs OC). Plus, it would be nice if some other team had their staff poached!

Who hired the first black head coach in the modern NFL? Da Raidas! But yeah, it would go a long way towards putting the Gruden crap in the rear view mirror. I think Leftwich might be a better choice than Bienemy. Is it Bienemy or Andy Reid calling plays early on in EB's stint as OC AND Mahomes being his QB? The same might be asked of Leftwich but he had the Bucs #3 in points and yards, the year before Brady arrived. I prefer they take Leftwich....break up an NFC team's staff!!! They might lean towards robbing from an AFC West rival.

Rooney Rule? I think it is still in effect. Thus the Raiders are not going to ignore the rule.

In 1967 they used their first round pick on a black quarterback.
They had a Mexican-American QB become a two-time Superbowl champion.
They had the 1st Mexican Head Coach to win a Superbowl.
First Woman CEO
Accepted a gay player for his football ability.

None of above people were "tokens", they were hired because of their ability.

Marc Davis doesn't have to put "Gruden" behind him. Gruden doesn't define the Raiders, he defined himself.

Hiring someone because they have a certain skin color is every bit of an insult.

People that want to believe that the Raiders in any way indorsed or looked the other way are following a red herring.

Rich Bisaccia gets the audition. He has eleven games to prove himself.

Greg Olsen knows the offense, and has the experience. Gus Bradley is well respected and a lot of fans are putting his name up.

I think it was a good call to not use Olsen or Bradley for the interim, but I wouldn't be offended if either one is hired for that position after the season is over.

The skin color of the Raiders next HC won't be a deciding factor. Their ability will.

Eric Bieniemy no doubt has a resumé to earn a shot with any NFL team. Hence his ability. The amusing thing about hiring Bieniemy will give their rival, the Chiefs, an automatic 3rd round pick.

Based on Bieniemy's elite level of productivity he has had with the Chiefs, I will gladly endorse his hiring.

How do you talk to your buddies on the golf course or at the bar?

The Woke Religion has weaponized political correctness in a brazen effort to enforce their dogma.

When you own a business, you have the absolute right to fire an employee who is a racist, misogynistic, homophobic person and that information becomes public, which reflects on your business. Keeping Gruden could also hurt the Raiders ability to attract free agents who might not want to play for such as person.

That is not Woke, that is basic Business 101.

I would also question the intelligence of anyone who would express such opinions in an email. How stupid are you Gruden? Even without this investigation, it has been know that emails can be hacked. Just ask Leon Panetta

This is the best possible result for NFL poor-boy Davis. He gets out of a bad contract without having to pay Gruden for his sub-par performance record-wise. Davis must be ecstatic.

"In 2006, Allen seemed like a lock for reelection in Virginia. Until, that is, he was caught on videotape calling a staffer for his opponent "macaca." The staffer was Indian; "macaca" is a derogatory term for people of color."

Birds of a feather, it looks like Gruden is pretty comfortable having a conversation of this type with Allen.
