I find it interesting the Chargers felt they had to pay to have the Offspring play a concert to get people to their practice. You might want to throw hate at the band, but based on their tour website Offspring are still playing midsized venues as headliners with tickets starting at $50 to $80.

So that couldn’t have been a cheap booking. One website has their price as $150,000 to $250,000 to show up.

Not politics, just enjoying shenanigans.

I don't think it always works that way. Depends on their media department (insiders says Chargers actually has a top notch media team) In this case, the Chargers have a relationship with the Alt 98.7 and the Alt put together a discounted package to host the Offspring (who promoted their new album). I bet this cost the staging cost, but not an appearance fee.

BTW, playing in SOFI is not free. That was the biggest cost to Spanos for running this free fan preview, but maybe its equal time for Rams running their fan fest. They also make some back end on concessions and team store sales.

But yes, I agree with all the discussion about Chargers doing whatever 'other' thing they can to build a fan base in LA. That's business and I wish Rams continue to step up (losing Sarina at the wrong time is not a good sign) and just dominate Chargers and maybe kick them out (tho at this point its so tangled up financially, I don't think its realistic)

Let’s just wait for when the Chargers giveaways are PlayStation 5’s, iPads etc. But they’re given out after the game so you have to stay the whole 3+ hours. /jk

I was there, jokes aside. There were probably 5k ppl squished into that concert. After the concert did those ppl flood into SOFI and watch the bolts train?

Nope, didn't happen. About 20% capacity at best in the stadium. I do suspect Chargers sold lots of PSLs due to pricing and the surprising play of Herbert. But I suspect its a lot of resellers based on what I saw.

I love irony.

AR, please try not to stir the pot in NFL unless your looking for more business in GD.
Thanks.

Maybe the Offspring took a hometown discount and the Woody show paid part of the bill: but I don’t see how the Chargers didn’t chip in at least some money in an attempt to get butts in seats. And it’s sad/funny they’re having to resort to this.

Send the Chargers back to San Diego.

Reminds me of the scene in This is Spinal Tap when the band gets second billing on a marquee below "Puppet Show."
