One rumor is there are emails from Demoff where he says that the Rams continued on-field malaise would help the team "get home to LA". But everyone needs to calm down as there are no orders to lose on purpose. Plus if he said that I don't blame him in a way as teams tank for draft picks all the time. But if he did put that in an email or text, that's dumb. Keep that in person behind closed doors.

All the NFL had to do was
1) convince Demoff/Stan to not shit on St. Louis during the process and on the way out of town
2) throw an empty promise that St. Louis is at the top of the list for expansion.

Boom. No lawsuit, no lawyers, no drama. The relocation guidelines are safe and could be used again to extort other cities.

I'm not sure i buy that. People focus on the process in a break up but it's the breakup itself that matters. It's a rejection any way you spin it.

After St. Louis rejected the arbitration panel's ruling, the Rams intended to leave. The NFL as an entity was on their side. But that didn't mean it was a lock. We saw how hard Spanos tried to prevent it. He came pretty close.

The document people in St. Louis are so upset about was part of the Rams argument for their plan. And they only barely succeeded.

The Rams were never a lock to get L.A. It made sense to play more than on angle, consider more than one scenario...

Maybe and I see your points on Stan being somewhat forced to do what he did.

But you didn't address point #2. I still think the preferred city/top of the list "promise" to St. Louis would have killed all lawsuits in the cradle. Both the already settled PSL lawsuit and this one going on now. I'd like a non St. Louisan to punch holes in that and justify the NFL not making that move.

(Yes I know: what about Oakland and San Diego? How would they feel if St. Louis got a promise but they didn't. Couldn't they have sued? Doubt it as neither one of them were going to pony up hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, neither had a stadium site and a stadium plan.)

Low profile: Stan could work the Columbia, Jeff City politicians. They hate St. Louis and would love nothing more than to stick it to us.

For example Missouri voters approved a Medicaid expansion 62/38 with heavy yes votes from St. Louis. The state legislature reversed it.

Stan was right about our shit hole of a city concerning crime, population growth and the economy. But the same harsh truths that Demoff dumped on us can be thrown at Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Baltimore and maybe even DC. Do we pull those teams?

Truth is truth. If the Bears or other of the teams in towns StLoser mentioned chose to leave, who knows what those owners would do. Especially if a last minute attempt to disallow that team to leave was implemented with the same defiant / adversarial methodology.

I bet the Bears get nasty when they try to get out of Soldier Field and to the suburbs. It’s what the Atlanta Braves did to escape to Cobb County.

So St. Louis shouldn’t have tried to keep the Rams? Solid logic.
