Didn't work out. Both out. We missed the Playoffs. Goff's gyro got tumbled....bad karma. Then in 2022....more bad Allen/Noteboom karma.....both get hurt, this time Stafford's core brain function is sadly affected....and no Playoffs again!! Somebody here was writing about what constitutes "a fantasy".....Joe Noteboom as a dependable NFL LT BlindSide professional.......that's a fucking fantasy!! Anybody who sees Joe LedNFLIn2022QBSacks/Hits/Pressures Noteboom as Los Ramos LT of the future is living in a dream world!!! by ramsman34 2 years 7 months ago Total posts: 10040 Joined: Apr 16 2015 Back in LA baby! So...is it better strategy to do things the way the Rams seem to be doing it(total O line about 23 million) or the way the Raiders do it(around 57 million)? Seems the end result is just about the same. by PARAM 2 years 7 months ago Total posts: 13219 Joined: Jul 15 2015 Just far enough North of Philadelphia Hall of Fame The O line POST #440 99Balloons liked this post Salary of the OL is irrelevant as far as success is concerned. The 2018 Rams paid their top 5 about 26 mil and they helped them get to the Superbowl, scoring a whopping 3 points once there. In 2019, they paid their starting five 28 mil! The 2020 Bucs paid their top five 39.7 mil and they won the Superbowl. This year they're paying 3 of those five 41.2 mil. And they're 5-6. Sure Jensen is out and that hurts, but they let their 2 G's leave because of money and injuries have affected that unit. Hell Wirfs just went down this week. Let's see how they fare going forwardI'll say this.....the Rams picked a good year to pay their line one of the lowest totals in the league! Can you imagine putting out 41 mil plus and having the number of injuries they've had? Of course somebody could try and tie salaries to injuries as well. The only one who can play is Havenstein!!! And at times, that's debateable. Hell, KC did it last year and made it to the......divisional round!!I suppose we can 'say' Jackson is the real deal at LT after 2 starts. Or Anchrum has got a shot as a starting G after 2 snaps. And that Bruss was our first selection this past draft, so he must have something. But if Aboushi makes the roster next year we will be in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes. And probably need to be!!Of course they should probably keep some of them around. Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. There is a reason the good ones rarely become available. This year was a regression to the mean on injuries. I would not move on from Boom and Allen until we have proven replacements i.e a free agent or stud draft pick. Boom's injury was a freak thing, though I know he has gotten injured in the past. If anything we need more depth and gents we can develop. The assumption seems to be that any big guys who have gotten to the NFL can be taught to block to the adequacy that's needed at this level. Using high draft picks...A. Uses up picks normally reserved for skilled players and...B. High draft picks generally command higher salaries. I understand the thinking. The Rams pay their offensive linemen(collectively) less than all but 3 other NFL teams. Some teams pay a LOT more.
