Although I have to say, his trade value with that contract should be actually tangible at this point

I suppose the contract value makes it worth a shot. I thought with the right coach and system he could excel with his skill set. I saw none of that the past season. I'm hoping McVay can get more out of it but I have my doubts. He has to be used in a specific, not traditional receiver sort of way. Too bad he can't throw the ball. It would give them another trick play option.

Hard to believe that a guy could get worse after leaving the Jeff Fisher offense.
Although I wouldn't expect the best burger flipper at McDonalds to excel on the grill at Smith and Wollensky either. Could see them having him just peel onions or something

Sure, I'll give McVay a short leash to get this right.

One thing I haven't heard mentioned is TA's confidence was shot last year. It wasn't high to begin with--injuries, new regime--but after being demoted from punt returns he lost all his swagger. He just didn't seem to be enjoying football like before. Last year Goff was McVay's rehab project; maybe this year he will take on TA?

But McVay failed to to use TA as a WR for the most part. We dont really know what TA can do it. All I know is TA did some good stuff with Fisher with bad QB's so I expect McVay can get TA into some space as a WR with full OTA's and training camp.

Does Tavon Austin have the ability to throw the football with decent accuracy 20-25 yards down the field? If so get me together with Coach and an etch-a-sketch for an hour.

I think you got it backwards. TA failed to break in to the rotation. Don’t know if it was missing off season put him too far behind or what. McVay gave him opportunities but clearly didn’t want him running routes. That’s on TA, not a “failure” on McVay
