Finally, if we just let UFA TruJo walk for 2017, and he signs a longterm deal with another NFL Team, just like Janoris Jenkins did with the G-Men last season, Los Ramos would be in line for a 2018 Compensatory Third Rounder, right??
:(

Probably not because had we not signed him, we'd have 16.7 additional available cap space to sign FA. So we could get an olineman or WR (or almost both for 16.7) and likely our net gain would leave us without compensation

Tru at his age is worth at least as much as Garcon on the open market. All the Rams need is a bidding war for Tru and they'll get a 2nd rounder.

But if they drag their feet on dealing him they won't have any cap space to buy a WR in FA. At least not one who is likely to help them much.

Is Garcon signed for $16 mil per year or is he "getting" 16 mil in 2017?

From Mortenson tweet: "When Pierre Garcon finalizes deal with 49ers, as expected, league sources believe he will make $16 million in first year."

That could be:
a) a 16 million salary
b) some combination of salary, signing bonus, etc

Tru is getting 16.7 in salary on the tag and reportedly wants 17 per year salary. Of course that's fair if it involves salary & bonuses. Is he "worth" 17 mil per year?

IMO neither is worth anywhere near that. Neither is close to an elite player at their position.

Point is that teams with tons of cap space will over spend.

Good logic on the Net Free Agency Head Count versus Compensatory Picks from ralphdieterbrock. 8-) Thanks buddy! ;)

Now somebody please explain to me how our veteran Demoff-led Rams Management Dream Team got scooped on Redskins stud WR Garcon by John Lynch, who was a TV color man up until a few weeks ago!!!

Like, wasn't former Redskin Garcon supposed to love former Redskin Sean McVay like the twin brother, from another mother, that he never had??!! :?

Funny isn't it?
These reporters don't have the info so they regurgitate the same non info

16 mil would be including signing bonus I would figure. Who knows what the total figures will be. He could be playing on a 4 mill base with a 12 mill signing bonus and all kinds of escalators...

IMO I hope another team bites(Cleveland) and trades for him. Wipe the 17mil off the books, invest that into the line, and draft a few DB(rich draft).

The 9ers have a lot of jack to blow and are spending to make a splash. We aren't in that position.

Sad part is we sucked about as bad as the 9ers over the past few years so our larger contracts aren't adding up to to any kind of advantage. just the opposite.

Let's hope we get lucky and find out it's been Fisher / staff all along. that we've had solid players in a bad system who will suddenly excel and lead our offense out of the mire.

What I like, is trade him for a first round pick next year. The trade would be Tru for a 2018 1st round pick. The 2018 draft is a strong in LTs.

He's not worth a 1st round pick and if they are going to trade the player, why not get a draft pick in a year when the draft is loaded with players at his position to replace him

We need the players this year. Next year there will be more options and there are quality players coming out who play the positions we need upgraded this year...
