PARAM wrote:Yeah, they are executing the plan they put into place in March. Clear the high salaries of guys who helped us finish with the #19 defense, draft a shitload of players, coach them up and develop them throughout the season. Then go into 2024 with wads of cash for free agency and a pick in each of the first 5 or 6 rounds. BTW, the guys who replaced those high salaried #19 guys are sitting at #15 right now. A long way to go but it seems like they're sticking to their guns.

Well I would say the #19 defense had to play with the worst offense in the league statically last year so def not an apples to apples comparison. But that all doesnt really matter now.

I didnt mind the idea of slashing payroll for a bigger splash down the road, but the Rams are gambling a bit with Stafford at the tail end of this career. Basically in affect this becomes a lost year for Stafford and like I mentioned he probably has 2-3 good seasons remaining. All in for 24 and 25, will see if the gamble pays off.

Unless they trade for a high end edge rusher and sign him to a multi year deal, I don't see them being buyers this year. Which is ok. Its possible they can be good enough for a wild card spot. Which would exceed expectations. But they won't be challenging for a deep run if they did make the playoffs.

I think the next two games will tell us all we need to know. They beat a couple lesser teams then I believe they are good enough to win 9 or 10 games. Which would be impressive considering this is actually a rebuild year. Of course if they lose one of these games then it would seem they really are not ready to make a run.

Either way I think they should stand pat. The young guys need experience. And we will have a better idea of who looks like a future contributor and who doesn't. Free agency should be to fill obvious weak spots on the team. Like edge rusher and offensive line depth. If there is a decent left tackle available I'd like to see them sign one. I'm not convinced our guys are reliable enough to count on them.

I call BS .... Our GM is looking at Every single player in the NFL ... It's his job. The obvious is that the Rams only have $10 million dollars of cap space to work with. ... MvVay is not showing his cards just yet.

I do think that would be a good signing. He'll get the benefit of playing next to Donald, should be available on the cheap and would definitely help the rotation. We need Hoecht back inside where he belongs.

Frank Clark hasn’t done much lately and is 34. He would hinder the development of Mathis and the other edge players.

I like what I saw from Mathis,
He has a fast motor.
He needs to start on the opposite side of Young.

And put Hoecht back in the middle,
especially we lost NT/Brown any where from 5 to 7 weeks.

Both Young & Mathis, need some time building up their NFL strength,
So they can bull rush those tackles.

But I like what I see!!!!

I’m with ya in Hoecht. You can move him inside and out now.

Mathis had 3 impressive rushes. He is going to develop quickly I think bc of his insane athleticism. I’d bet AD is all up in his ear about rush techniques and playing off of him (AD).

I don’t see signing Frank Clark nor do I see a trade unless it’s at DT and they don’t move Hoecht inside. I really think the Rams are sticking to the plan they laid out before the season. Coach their asses off, develop the kids, be as competitive as possible and see how far that takes this group. The team will look a lot different next season.

I don't know what Frank Clark has left in the tank.

This I do know. Denver has the worst defense in the NFL and they're letting Clark go. What does that say?

I hear you but it could also be a Rams thing where they'd rather develop their youth than waste space on an aging vet especially considering they're not going anywhere this year...
