If he decides to stay and the Rams have to endure this shit show every year is not a good look and in my opinion will render him completely ineffective when it comes to leading men..

I retired from a leadership position a couple of years ago and never mentioned whether I would retire with anyone other than my wife. After I reflected and looked at the pros and cons about retirement I made my announcement to my boss and then notified the 400+ people who I led. No, I'm not trying to say my job was = to an NFL HC, but you do not contemplate such a big decision openly. As soon as the troops no you are thinking about quitting/retiring they will "tune you out" and ignore any future directives and then just "wait you out" if you decided to stay.

In all instances McVay should have avoided the media until his final decision is made and that is why I believe the decision to walk away has already been made.

He's better than this, he's well read and studies leadership and always knows his audience. Whether he makes the final decision to walk away tomorrow, next week on February 1st or the decision is already made.................it's fairly clear to me he is out. Queue the coaching carousel.

Some good points there.

I guess there's an outside shot he hangs for another year because of Stafford, but even so, he's short term at best.

Anyways, we've looked at this thing every which way now and its clear there are many valid arguments that he's leaving.

It's not unreasonable to consider what the changeover will look like. I think it will be significant. AD will most likely be gone too.

If he pulls a Pete Carroll and splits when the chips are down only to come back with somebody already stacked and ready to roll I will lose all respect for that guy. I hate ugly divorces. And I didn't expect this one...

His image is moving South in a hurry and nothing's happened yet. Should have keep everything quiet from the get go last year.

Another guy I would look at and hire is Jordan Palmer for my Quarterbacks coach. I think he’s a brilliant young mind.

His image is moving south on this board.

But in the world of reality, people realize he hasn't done anything wrong, and has been nothing but stellar for the Rams organization.

McVay hasn’t had a good year. Rams came out flat out of gates and were never competitive this year. He’s had some weird personnel choices. Atwell couldn’t see the field for weeks, the weird Akers situation, starting certain players then cutting them.

Now he’s creating distraction on his own. Might be time to move on.

100% true

He has been stellar for the Rams organization. And though he hasn't done anything wrong, he could have handled things differently. Like denying it last year and this year....if he's staying....honesty is terrific but so is a little white lie.

Seems crystal clear to me that fans have legitimate concern that McVay is leaving.

Telling fans they don't know so they shouldn't worry is patently absurd.

Reminds me of the movie Reservoir Dogs. Tim Roth (Mr Orange) is riddled with bullets and bleeding to death in the back seat of the car and says he's dying. And Harvey Keitel (Mr White) tells him he doesn't know that because he's not a doctor.

We got a couple of Mr Whites here.

Or… some people are just more patient than others and are therefore not interested in speculating. We’ll all know the answer in good time.

Do you think it's better to be like Jim Harbaugh? Tell everybody you will be at the University of Michigan for the rest of your life and then obviously attempt to get an NFL job every year.
