QB's "like" Stafford? :roll2: .....AND QBs like Brady. QBs like Rodgers. QBs like Murray. QBs like Goff. QBs like Wentz. QBs like Herbert. Etc. Etc.

Agreed. No QB is effective behind a garbage OL. Look at Mahomes against Bucs in SB.

Reid was smart enough to realize he needed to bolster the OL. They let Hill go, didn’t pay him crazy money. They invested in OL. Smart teams invest in OL. Pats, Chiefs, Eagles, etc…

Somehow, the Rams got lost on this. They started out correctly by adding Whitworth in 2017. But somewhere along the line McVay and Snead got caught up thinking they could make their OL work with guys like Noteboom, Allen, and Bruss. Big mistake.

Stafford is not quick, fast or elusive. Want me to name some who are? Is this really a bone of contention?

The "bone of contention" is FEW quarterbacks are great behind a shitty OL. So Lamar might get away with it but I doubt it. Murray? Ahh, no. Mahomes? Yeah, okay I could buy that one and yet he looked rather ordinary in the SB vs the Bucs.....but he did get there. Feel free to list ALL those QBs who have excelled behind average to shitty O lines.....besides Mahomes and Burrow last year.

Superstar

Further to max's point about how even superstar QBs having uber difficulties producing offensive points behind crappy OLines.....

if you took arguably the best RB in NFL history Jim Brown, #32 on the ol' Cleveland Browns, at his peak....or even our own Eric Dickerson in his prime.....and put him behind this Bobby Evans & Co clown show that Los Ramos brass have trotted out these past coupla months.....
same-same with the lack of ability to produce effectively....
WHETHER YOU'RE TRYING TO PASS THE HOGBLADDER OR TRYING TO RUN THE BALL! :idea2:

IT JUST AIN'T GONNA WORK BEHIND A CRAPPY OLINE, SPORTSFANS!!! :idea2: :arrow2: :x

2008 Kurt Warner. The Cardinals' O-line was a piece of crap that year, and Kurt carried them to the Super Bowl and nearly won it.

Okay, but name me some QBs who don't walk on water! Just kidding!!!

I'm glad you brought that O line up. That 2008 Arizona O line had 5 guys (Mike Gandy, Reggie Wells, Lyle Sendlein, Deuce Lutui and Levi Brown) who started 16 games each. Nobody missed a start!!! Which some might say proves that even with an average OL, if they played together all season as a unit, anything could happen!!!!

But how bad was that O line?
Mike Gandy was drafted by the Bears in the 3rd round of 2001. He started 16 games for Buffalo (2005 & 2006) and Arizona (2007 & 2008). He suffered an injury in 2009 and never played again.
Reggie Wells started 16 games from 2004-2009 except for the 2005 season when he was injured.
Lyle Sendlein played 9 years for Arizona (2007-2015). He started every game from 2008-2015 with the exception of 2012 (11 games) when he was injured and his final year when he only started 15.
Deuce Lutui played for 7 years, 6 with Arizona (2006-2011). He started the last 9 games of his rookie year, then 63 of the next 64
Levi Brown was a first round draft pick in 2007 and started 75 of his first 77 games with the Cardinals.

I'm not so sure the OL was the Cardinals problem back when these guys were playing. They had Warner for the last 2 years of his career, then Derek Anderson, then Kevin Kolb for 2, then Carson Palmer. Ironically, Sendlein was the only guy from that 2008 line playing in Palmer's first year with them and they went 10-6.

But let's say they were just an average OL just the same and they made it to the Superbowl when they played every game of the season. :idea2:

As it stands they have a second, third, 3 sixes and a seventh. The way things are looking those 2nd and 3rd rounders will be fairly early in the rounds.

You did well starting that list. Couple of things. One...I am not a Stafford hater. In fact I'm an old Lions fan who loves the guy. Two...Stafford is great with time and terrible without it. Many QB's are better than he is without time to throw. No...none are great in that capacity but Stafford is terrible and that should have been noted when the team was being assembled for this season. An average offensive line isn't what he needs. The better up front, he gets great again. This should have been apparent when putting this team together. Even without the injuries the O line was not any better than mediocre and improving that area should have been a priority. It wasn't. There are injuries and now the entire offense is a joke that every D coordinator is in on. OK...carry on.

Really? How do you 'splain Stafford being top 5 vs the blitz in 2021?

What exactly is "an old Lions fan" on a Rams forum? I can guess.....
