Still, I find it interesting that many in the media (outside of Roggin) are playing it down as no big deal. Vinny Bonsigniore is saying the meeting wasn't supposed to be anything big, and he tweeted a memo he got from the Carson boys that said as much. To him and others the Carson fiasco is much ado about nothing.

Vinny is saying the decision will be based on what happens in SD, OAK, and STL. And not so much what has been happening in Carson. He thinks SD and OAK don't have much going for them and STL is looking good in the eyes of the NFL. They only reason he gives that would support the Rams moving to LA is "how much does Kroenke really want to go to LA". Vinny give the impression that if Kroenke backs off LA just a bit, then the Rams will stay in STL.

IMHO, I think Vinny is trying very hard not to make any enemies anywhere as the expense of telling everything he knows about what is really going down.

I don't know how anyone could examine the Carson situation not see a lot of smoke and mirrors.

How can you not smell a rat when Carmen Policy is all over the airwaves selling Carson to everyone and yet he doesn't even show up the the big Carson meeting?

Vinny is not Fred Roggin. Fred's a legend in LA. His been doing sports via TV since I was a kid. I'm 28. He has sources that Vinny just doesn't have. Vinny lost creditability with me when he went on Freds shows 1-2 months ago and said that there might be a possibility Stan builds in Inglewood and the Raiders and Chargers occupy it. I can't take someone serious when they say that. I also can't take someone serious when they say Stan might sell and buy the Broncos or Raiders. That's such a dumb, lazy and foolish thing to say.

The blinders that half this fan base wear and can't recognize are mind boggling. I had a nightmare last night that the Rams didn't end up moving and were moved by the NFL into the AFC West. I think if this outcome were to happen it might distance me from football forever. I couldn't live with that resolution to this situation.

I've had that same dream with the same reaction. If the league rewards SD (and Oakland by association) our fair city because they are weaker and can't get it done (or what they really want done) in their respective cities, I will be disgusted. But if they realign on top of that. my disdain for the Charaiders and the NFL may be enough put me off pro football forever.
It was tough enough to lose the Rams once, but to lose them twice (my fault as I set myself up for this) I likely won't ever recover fully from.
The StL fan posters, or at least a hand full, show tenacity for sure but I would appear they are all wearing those Budweiser Clydesdale's blinders. They diss what they don't want to hear and clutch every little tid-bit of anything positive all the while thinking fairness has anything to do with it all the while defending what the city / CVC did to derail this. We don't know but can assume Stan was as silent during his years of negotiations with the CVC over the dome as he is being now. If so they have no argument. And a half price deal for a less that top flight stadium in a declining midwest city just ain't gonna cut it when you compare the City of Champions project who now even Carson is trying to copy. lol

Here's the good news...

As much as Vinny favors the STL folks every time he goes on the radio there, telling them they've got the best plan of the 3 cities, he still tells them the Rams are his pick to move to LA.

Still, Vinny totally ignored what happened in the Carson meeting. He very slimly threw Roggin under the bus, saying some guys have an agenda and Carson was exactly what it was expected to be. Vinny totally ignored what the Carson Mayor said on the air and Vinny knew all about it. Vinny not only disregarded that, he dismissed Roggin as making something out of nothing. Why did he do that? My guess is that he doesn't want to piss off the powerful people behind Carson who can hurt his career.

As I've said, Vinny is trying hard to advance his career. So he isn't going to throw dirt on anyone that can hurt his career.

You smell a rat Hacksaw? I do too, and I think it's Carmon Policy. Mark Fabriani was there ready to give his presentation. When I talked to Mayor Robles outside before the meeting, He didn't know then that Policy wasn't going to show up, I'm sure because we talked about them and wheather they would answer question later. He looked more and more antsy as the meeting went on and Policy still wasn't there. He kept glancing at his aide in the back of the room. That story about editing the presentation is pure BS.
For whatever reason, Carmen Policy decided to bail at the last minute, and didn't tell anyone. I can't wait to hear his explanation. He' laid low yesterday, not a peep from him. Probably busy getting his story together. Guy is a scumbag in my book. I was promised he would be there to give the citizens of Carson the same stadium proposal that he gave the NFL owners in NY two weeks ago. Fabriani too. He could have given his presentation. that there was something in it the public couldn't see is BS. They had plenty of time to do any editing.
And none of that explains why Tim Romer of Goldmann-Sachs was a no show too. He was supposed to give a presentation also. The financial side. Could his absence be related to Policy not showing up?

I have a sneaking suspicion there is something else going on, some behind the scene hankey-pankey that caused Carmen Policy to back out at the last second, and I'm pretty sure the Mayor was as surprised as everyone else. I don't think these folks were all on the same page and Policy got cold feet.

So was it just a SNAFU or is something going on? Maybe Carson is no longer on the front burner for SD? Maybe they want the mayor out and set him up to look like a fool? Maybe Policy had some kind of family emergency...

Normally this is the slowest time of year for the NFL, pretty much everyone goes on vacation from now until training camp. But this year, with relocation in the air, might not be such a slow month.

And let's not forget the 2015 season is about to start. Pretty much everyone involved would like the home markets to have some sense of hope so people will turn up to the games...

An interesting point was brought up that Walmart was trying to be built there but was turned away. They went on to mention that if Kroenke was involved in that Walmart development he might have some inside info on that site which could be damaging to the Charaiders. do you know why the Walmart was denied in Carson bubba?

hacksaw, My guess why Wal-Mart didn't get done there is the same reason that lot has been empty for 50 years. Its a toxic waste site with lots of problems. And its going to take lots of money to fix it. the EPA and the Calif. State Board of Health are the two agencies that have to give their approval before anything can get built there. they have set their guidelines and no one so far wants to spend the money its going to take. Time of cleanup is another factor. It could take up to 2 years. Then there's the possibility digging around could just cause more problems. Pandora's Box.

So say someone does come in, spend the money, completes remideation as the EPA set forth. they build a stadium. then people working there start getting sick. headache's, nausea, cancer. Can you imagine the lawsuits? Who pays? The City of Carson? The NFL? the Raiders/Chargers?

I've been sitting at Mickey D's all day, talking to folks from around here. Lots of good takes, everyone would love to see something built on that landfill, but most think nothing will anytime soon.

The Chargers and Raider Brass can't be that stupid to not know this. the NFL too. they did a study on the site while considering LA for expansion in '99.

Whats good is the Carson site is being exposed as leverage.
