throw in davante adams and the rams wouldn't even need a "genius" hc/oc, stafford could just draw up plays in the dirt!

Agreed . Lets get a vet back there. As long as he still has wheels.
That kind of experience in the backfield would really be intriguing..

aeneas1 wrote:first, tough blow to the rams but an even tougher blow to akers, he seems like such a great kid, who was just about to become the premier back on a super bowl contender, it's enough to make anyone sick!

re the "stafford's never had a quality running back" thing, or "his rbs have gained 100+ yards in game only a handful of times during his career" thing, it's a bunch of meaningless nonsense imo...

last season josh allen didn't have a single 100-yard rusher, and his top rusher ranked 23rd in rush yards and 26th in yards per carry among the 47 rb with at least 100 carries - josh allen also didn't have hall-of-famer calvin megatron johnson to throw to.

yet the bills finished 3rd in offensive scoring, only 1 team won more games, and they reached the conference championship game.

and the 2020 super bowl winners? they finished the year ranked 29th in total rush yards and 25th in yards per carry, yet somehow managed to finiish 2nd in offensive scoring.

Yes, quite a few good teams didn't have top tier run games. I don't recall KC being a good run team either. But I do know the Rams offense can thrive in McVay's system with a good run game setting up play action. Can McVay adjust if the run game isn't good?

So many unknowns with a new QB and so many D changes. I really think we'll prevail..
Sorry Cameron can't go on the ride....

This sucks for Cam. But McVay wasn't gonna run the ball anyway. J/K

X and Funk are not proven pass blockers. They need to learn quick. I agree with rent a vet

Enough?

Maybe.

(Enough for me to say "meh" to remaining FA RBs Todd Gurley, Le'Veon Bell, Adrian Peterson and Duke Johnson)

Nope not close. Akers was a difference maker. Henderson I like but is made of glass. Im honestly ready for the Funk or some has been they pick up.

This is terrible news for the rams fortunes.

Yes McVay was going to run the ball. His offense functions at a consistently high level when the running game is there. Meanwhile Stafford could never win games in Detroit partly because they rarely had a run game.

We'll see what they can come up with w/out Akers but they were not intending on becoming a pass first last and always offense in 2021.

Then again, i think there's an argument to be made that the Rams offense stopped being great at the same time Gurley did...

Akers was going to have a break out year, we are going to miss that element big time, the rest are jags
