I've read numerous reports using the word deadline. However, that doesn't make sense. That would either mean either you can file during the regular season (which would be bad for attendance nor have we heard of that).
Me thinks improper wording was used which confused us. Opening relo season the day after the regular season. It might suck if the team was in the playoffs. Amazing coincidence all 3 aren't .. :?

As long as Kroenke can hold onto at least 9 votes, I think we're good.

I think Kroenke has at least these votes right now:
Rams
Jets
Eagles
Cowboys
Redskins
Pats
Ravens
Dolphins
Niners
Seahawks
Cards

Do the owners get to vote for only 1 team? Can they vote yes for all 3?

In theory, they could, but that seems unlikely. They will probably vote for each team separately. So, again in theory, they could vote Kroenke and Spanos both yes without them forming a deal in order to force them together. Although that would put Spanos at an extreme disadvantage.

That's correct. It's surprising how many people on twitter think today is the deadline. With all of the talk about it, you would think they would know it's only the first day to file. I'm sure all three team will fine today.

I thought today was the deadline as well. I guess the confusion is because they have the presentation in a couple days
So in theory, they could give presentations, the owners can vote and then in February a team could file for relocation

You're right. It wouldn't make sense for them to wait until after the meetings that start on Wed. to file. I was just confirming what the poster that I was replying to thought (Re: today is the first day to apply, but it isn't the deadline).

So since today is only opening day, why would the teams need to file right before this special meeting in NY? If a team or 2 are getting turned back or working out a deal, it would be easier to make up with their current market by not filing. I don't see a week or 2 affecting the leverage in those markets negatively.
If the vote happens before a deal then that's kind of moot. But the vote is only 2 weeks away.
Unless something is already on track I could see them possibly waiting as long as 2 weeks to file.

Or what Vinny said... lol

Oh Gawd, I listened for 10-mins and then turned off in disgust. They are so down on the Rams, it's unbearable. And everything, absolutely everthing that is wrong with the team is due to ownership.

I use to listen to that station during football season and during draft time and during free agency, but I haven't listened to the station in over a year. It's not like they have any inside/breaking Rams news.

Show other owners that you're serious. It's basic politics 101, costly signaling, by filing you show the other owners that you're willing to pay the cost in your home market by announcing your intention to move. Spanos has already done costly talk by shitting over San Diego and their efforts, costly signalling is typically stronger.

Costly talk would be like telling a friendly country you're going to invade if they don't give you their resources. Costly signalling is building up your military and mobilizing them right outside their border. Talk is talk, but when you're looking at the tanks across the fence, you know it's happening. Filing is like putting an armored battalion on the enemies border.

Good points BC. My conservative approach would definitely not work in war. That said this is the battle for LA.

I am really beginning to dislike the Chargers !!
