Go look at Fluker and the Seahawks lineman’s comments about the Rams front after they hung 200+ on them.

“All they want to do is rush the passer”

Soft

Flukers comments should be taken as gospel? The Seahawks ran for 190 and 273 in 2018 and LOST both games. They ran for 167 and 106 in 2019 and won 1 game....the game Z missed a FG at the end. So maybe he's trying to soften the losses to the Rams in 2018 and 2019 with a little trash talking. When you go 1-3 against your division rival (or 1 of the last 5 dating back to 2017) with that one win coming as a result of a missed FG, symbolic wins are important. And those numbers look just a bit worse because of Wilson scrambling for yards (92 in 2018 and 60 in 2019). I'd like the type of defense you describe but if I can't have that, I'd like one who steps up and stops the opponent when they have to the most.

I too dig smash mouth dominant line play. We have had our problems against the run. Gashed far to often. Not sure if Flukers comments were about strength or scheme/style. It can easily be said Wade Phillip's Rams D never seemed stout against solid running teams.
I'm hoping Staley's approach might be a difference maker.

Who gives a shit what Fluker said?

The Seahawks didn't win the SB. The Titans didn't win the SB, SF didn't win the SB. KC was the most pass reliant and worst run stopping team in the playoffs.

Nothing wrong with running the ball and stopping the run but it's not the 70's.

Give me a top echelon passing game...

The BIGGEST reason we weren't a solid rush D under Wade is that he wanted his Dline to over-penetrate (yeah, I know, all of our women are clamoring for that! ) and that left them wide open for being gashed routinely. I suspect that our new Dline will play the run more honestly and tougher, and will not have as many pressures. I really want to see how we use our group of very young, olbers to create more pressure.

I rewatched the Chiefs/Rams game when the bad turf presented the opportunity to gather in L.A. during the terrible fires. I watched the "full version" on Gamepass (it seemed like a mistake, given Witten's and Booger's penchant for being shitty) and it was entertaining. But Testatore said, 'this was the most hyped game in a long time and it over delivered'. First MNF game in L.A. in 33 years.

I can tell you I loved the passing games of both teams. Goff was awesome that day. Higbee and Everett played huge roles. Both made great plays besides Everett's scores. But Aaron Donald showed the world why he was DPOY. Unbelievable. Two strip sacks at cruciel times, 1 for a score, 1 for an eventual score. And Ebukam played a great game too. He scored twice but his best play was towards the end when he pulled a Fowler before Fowler pulled a Fowler in the postseason.

It made me realize two things.

1.

Gurley was great part of this offense, a bigger part before his drop off in the passing game. And that night the passing game was king. Kupp wasn't there. Cooks was great but went out for times. Gurley was really good receiving. Woods was Woods. Higbee and Everett delivered. Reynolds remained under appreciated despite playing well. Goff was extremely good. Our passing game was on full display and it looked great.

2.

I don't care how many defenders we lose. Talib was out. Hill went out. Peters went out. But if we got Aaron Donald on that side of the ball, we have a chance to do damage. I know it sounds stupid with KC's offense scoring 45. The defense made huge plays all night despite getting gashed.

>>>>I got so much enjoyment out of it, I'm going back to watch the Vikings game from week 4. Another great Goff game.

Less pressures? Our secondary is up to that. LBs we'll have to wait and see.
