I do not mind "embellishing" or "exaggerating" .....after all I've been a Sales Guy most of my life....so probably guilty as charged.

BUT.....certain words in the English language, historical words actually, have an instant meaning. Give you an example....when most baby boomers hear the word "cover-up" most of us think immediately of Richard Nixon and Watergate right?

….so when this WWII history buff read "scapegoating" my immediate reaction was...
"For Krypes sakes.....I just wanna see a new Rams OLine Coach for 2020...
and NOW I'm fooking Joseph Goebbels!!!???"

Not sure if the division will be THAT much better:

AZ: Better. They are off to a good start with their new HC and QB. I think they are on the upswing.

SF: Down. Just too hard to stay at that level. They are like us from last year. Some lucky bounces and healthy. They won’t regress much but probably and will have a tougher schedule.

SEA: Push. Hard to tell with them. Don’t see a big swing either way.

So maybe not much change in the division. Going to be a fight.

Nothing is static in the NFL, but the division is most likely to be as good or better next year. The niners have depth and should keep most of their best players. Seattle has RW and will get it's stable of running backs back. The Cards should be better next year, but again nothing is a given.

As far as the schedule, the Rams have it easier than the Niners and the Hawks, but we are only talking about 2 games that are different so not sure if will impact, but every bit helps.

Rams: Home- Bears, Away Tampa bay
Niners: Home Green Bay, Road New Orleans
Seahawks: Home Minnesota, Road Atlanta

On the 2000 Rams I did indicate the fumble was in the Wild Card Game.

9-7 is slightly above average, not mediocre. Our challenge now as die hard fans is: to be able to accept above average when we know that top of the league is possible. McVay and Goff have shown us what they are capable of...now we expect that to be revisited...week in and week out.

I'm stoke to be in this position as a fan, but depressed that we have to wait 8 months to prove that above average is in the rear view mirror.

I was talking about the Hakim fumbled punt in the Wild Card game against the Saints. And it probably is because they made the playoffs. But there are other Rams teams who've made the playoffs that we don't talk about all that much. Those 73-77 Rams who won 54 games and just 3 in 5 playoff appearances. We talk about the 9-7 Ferragamo Rams because they made the Superbowl, but that was only because of the very weak NFC West (ala Philadelphia this year).

The 2000 Rams should have won the West had it not been for 2 losses to the 7-9 Panthers and another to the 8-8 Redskins down the stretch. Some might remember those Rams going 2-3 with Trent Green under center but they also went 2-3 after Warner returned. They started the year 6-0.

No, we might not talk all that much about the 2019 Rams. But their Superbowl hangover wasn't quite as bad as the 2002 headache. And they bounced back to make the postseason in 2003. Hopefully these guys will do the same with better results than the Steve Smith/Jason Sehorn matchup.

Point is, we don't know. What I do know is the only 2 Ram head coaches who started out better than McVay didn't make the Superbowl. In fact they had a combined 3-7 record in the postseason. If McVay's Rams can win 18 of their next 25, he will have a better record than George Allen (in the same number of games; 70). I like his chances. I will enjoy it much better if it brings something to talk about for years, like a Lombardi trophy.
