Oline got old fast and crumbled. He lost his confidence and never regained it until he was traded to the saints.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that Everett fell off a cliff, I'd say the team around him was intentionally dismantled and strip-mined. The movie Major League is essentially what those early '90's Rams teams were. Which is right when Everett's decline with the Rams happened.

To be fair though, Everett had lost that locker room. Not sure what his personality was like toward his teammates but as a Ram, he could never live down the phantom sack. He got a reputation for being soft and I think it cost him the respect of his Rams teammates.

are we talking everett? i have to say, i don't think i've ever seen a qb drilled so hard and so often a jimmy, especially from the blind side, and i think it took a toll.

That doesn't seem like numbers to produce a shell shocked QB, to me.
I'm not trying to be contrarian... I just felt like a lot of it was him.

yeah, i should have been more clear, wasn't talking quantity, was talking quality, i'll see if i can dig up a few, brutally drilled in the back, from the blindside, extremely violent hits, it seemed to happen so often, in fact that's what caused the whole "chris everett" thing with dickhead rhome, the phantom sacks everett took a few times, including in front of a national audience in the 1989 cc game against the niners with madden adding salt to the wound, i think the big hits finally, simply, took their toll...

speaking of goff, a couple of beautiful back-to-back dimes including a crucial 3rd and 8:

You can point to the pick 6 all you want. But Goff did plenty enough to win the game. It was the defense that failed them.

Dick84 wrote:It’s uncanny how accurate he is on the run.

On the previous post.. he identified the rush & escaped.. looked a lot like the Minnesota touchdown.
He’s got some great abilities. Makes it all the more frustrating when he gets the coverage he expects... loses the mlb.. but throws it blindly to the most vulnerable spot on the field for a pick 6.

I've been a big Goff advocate since just before they drafted him. And yes one of his strongest features is the kind of beautifully accurate pass we're talking about here.

And. No question he has to cut back on the INTs and in general the kind of "pressing" style "rush it" passes that get him in trouble sometimes.

I think he can do that and will do that.

I know that I was surprised that the Rams took him. Just didn't seem to fit anything Jeff Fisher had ever done. Wentz did.

Yeah i was just giving zn the business a little lol. I have to admit, i wanted Wentz also. Like you said, he was more of a Fisher type QB. Now, Wentz doesn't look very good.
