(Dish too i think.) And since DTV is also owned by ATT, i'm guessing once they're done with ST, they'll stop carrying NFL Network too.

My brother has had YouTubeTV for a couple years now and he seems happy with it.

Maybe they'll up their RSN game now that they're making a move?

I guess we'll see what's what and get some details soon enough.

But as StLoser points out, they're not cheap, pretty similar to what i'm paying DTV especially when you consider how much you can get back/off if you call and complain...

I expect the call to complain and get it free thingy will be gone...

But it does look like they will possibly make the premium channels available separately. As StL said - we will have to wait and see.

I was just looking at the Youtube TV setup, as we will drop Dish here most likely and switch. Looks great - especially since it does have NFL Network. Looks like there is also an option to include Hulu in the package, as well as several other streaming services.

It is always painful when things change - but, streaming is the future of TV and eventually the satellite thing will be gone anyway.

I think the other major problem with it not being on DTV, (and this goes to no matter who got it) is the DVR function. So streaming doesnt have a great option.

I literally watch 3 to 4 games at a time, DTV DVR will pause when you leave the channel (during commercials lol) and you can go back and not miss any of the action. This will be greatly missed. If pricing is bad like $300+ on top of a YouTube sub I wont he user. It will be NFL pipe for me.

That's a good point. I do love the double down option for football.

I guess the upside is, you don't need a box and the online DVR stuff should only get better over time. YouTube has unlimited DVR storage and, again anecdotally, my brother says it's good, tell it what you want and it does a good job of finding and recording what you want...

Streaming has greatly improved and will keep improving. This is just a technology change that is inevitable, DTV (and such) is the past.

The point is, there's no technological reason why streaming services haven't provided a better cloud DVR solution. They just don't care about it. With a DVR you can skip commercials, effectively. Why would they want that? They don't.

Maybe in the future they will decide to provide something, but since they haven't so far, I'm not holding my breath.

The point is, for those of us who have been DTV/DVR users for years, this will be a step down. In some ways, a big step down, and it will be more expensive.

So while I understand your points, for some of us, it's a disappointment to lose those features, and have to pay more for the privilege.

Plus we’re all suffering through the disaster that’s Sinclair’s ownership of a lot of the regional sports networks. $34.99/month to stream one Ballys Sports channel to get baseball and hockey is a gut punch.

The only issue I have with streaming is the buffering/delay. Streaming is painful due to the 30-90 second delay. I hate to sound like a broken record but Ballys delay is around a minute if not longer.

Apple did better with MLB Friday night baseball as their delay seemed more reasonable: like about 20 seconds.

The recording part seems ok, it is the watching it while it is still going. So far that is crappy, and one of the other reasons I have stuck with DTV. I am tried several Sling, FUBO they arent good. Trying to fast forward, rewind is not there yet.

It is inevitable just significantly inferior at this point in picture quality and DVR use-ability.

I fully understand that losing DTV is a disappointment to many. But, it is gone.

I also fully understand that it is wonderful to many. And, it will improve over time too - this is forward progress.

I highly doubt you spent any time over the last decade feeling sad for those who couldn't get Sunday Ticket in the comfort of their own living room like you have been able to do.

Or maybe you did, idk.

Sure, I did. My son was one of them for years, living in other states as a tenant in apartments and houses that didn't allow it. I bought a Slingbox just so he could tap into my DirecTV DVR and watch games he didn't have access to (Sling has since deprecated the Slingbox, another victim of the times). It was a poor substitute for actual Sunday Ticket access, but it was better than nothing for him. I spent years commiserating with him and others in the same boat.

I'm happy this restriction is being resolved for you and many more.
