Call me nuts but, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some may use stats to support their opinion. Facts are facts. Yes, Goff is rated in the bottom half of starting QBs. Yes, he is the Starting QB of a 7-4, in contention for the division, playoffs, and even the #1 seed in the NFC (long shot odds). Here’s a novel thought; instead of looking back to quasi predict what he is/isnt or might become. Let’s stay in the present and take it game by game going forward. Everyone stated their opinion of him in the SF game, then extrapolated. Fair enough. Five games left to see what he is NOW, the stretch run of this season. How ever that turns out, plenty of time this off season to apply his stats this season and back to the beginning as a harbinger of what’s to come.

I want to see how the next 5, possibly more games affect those opinions.

LOL, yes.
I could be cherry picking but Moklerman definitely has been.

Here's Goff's first 49 and Bradford's only 49, then Goff's last 49, with the Rams. And Moklerman definitely forgets Sammy won Offensive Rookie of the Year under Spagnuolo!!! And Goff had his IGFD (I Got Fucked by the Draft) rookie campaign under Fisher.

SB (age 23-26): 1032 of 1760 (58.6%) for 11065 yards (6.29 yds/att) 59 TDs (3.4%) 38 Ints (2.2%) 79.3 QB rating (Record: 18-30-1)
JG1 (age 22-25): 1023 of 1653 (61.9%) for 12576 yards (7.61 yds/att) 76 TDs (5.0%) 38 Ints (2.3%) 91.1 QB rating (Record 30-19)
JGL (age 23-26): 1153 of 1786 (64.6%) for 13766 yards (7.71 yds/att)82 TDs (4.6%) 41 Ints (2.3%) 93.7 QB Rating (Record 33-16)

Sammy's last 65 games of his career vs Goff's only 65 games.

SB (age 24-30) 1462 of 2301 (63.5%) for 15418 yards (6.70 yds/att) 84 TDs (3.7%) 46 Int (2.0%) 86.8 QB Rating (27-37-1)
JG (age 22-26) 1437 of 2272 (63.2%) for 17240 yards (7.59 yds/att) 103 TDs (4.5%) 52 Int (2.3%) 92.0 QB Rating (40-25)

Keep in mind, in those last 65 games of Sammy's career he played for Chip Kelly (who made Nick Foles look like Aaron Rodgers) and the Vikings, who were 11-5 the year prior to SB's arrival, 7-7 with SB and 13-3 the year he left going to the NFC Championship game with Case Keenum (whom Fisher made look like Keegan-Michael Key).

Sorry, got that last one in before I read this. Yeah, let's forget about comparisons and see how Jared Goff compares to a legit NFL QB over the next 5 games, perhaps the most important 5 games of the season. Then make our evaluations. Hopefully there will be more games left in this season than 5. :D

at age 24:

under a new oc bradford led the rams to a 1-9 record and 10.4 offensive points per game on average, by far the lowest scoring average in the league.

under a new oc goff led the rams to a 13-3 record, 30.4 offensive points per game on average, 3rd highest in the league, and the super bowl.

the laundry list of bradford failures, culminating in no winning seasons in his 8-year career, culminating in his fourth team benching him in favor of josh rosen, a guy who lasted a season and a half on an nfl roster, is endless... but other than that bradford and goff have really, pretty much, if we're being honest, played at the same level.

in other news, i'm not marred to goff, nor was i married to warner for that matter, and if the rams crash and burn to end this season clearly because of goff, the rams probably have some decisions to make going forward, altho i doubt anything would be as sudden as 2021, especially given they have an $8 million cap out at the end of 2022, then again the rams have eaten big cap hits before.

and of course there are no guarantees when it comes to moving on at the qb position, as rams fans know all too well, but you have to wonder if and when the time comes if the rams would move in the direction of a mobile guy given the current rage, given the recent success of some of these guys (altho murray mvp talk has cooled considerably in the last 4-5 weeks, not to mention some of the mobile guys over the years that had little or no success).

time will tell.

Exactly brah. And, if JG does well, all this other stuff will fall by the wayside. I believe we get to another SB with this team. I have no idea when, if we win it, or if we get to more than one. But, being that good is better than a lot of other teams are.

There are really only 2 “mobile” QBs who are universal threats; throwing and using their legs: Mahomes and Wilson. They have rings. The other guys have holes and questions marks. Now, there are guys adept at movement in, out of, and around the pocket. Goff has shown some flashes there, especially in the boot game. But that’s not the same as a Murray, Tua, Lamar, etc.

no doubt, altho kyler, lamar and deshaun, to name a few, were being touted as similar dual threats at one time or another over the last couple of season... and, yeah, i agree, goff has the ability to side-step pressure but he often doesn't, instead he reminds me of everett, warner and others, guys who stand in the pocket and trust that pass pro and the play will prevail, which can lead to shaky results from time to time.

that said, you have to wonder how often wilson or murray would even attempt to throw the ball when seeing 6+ man fronts that outnumber blockers, as opposed to making up their minds early that they were going to tuck and run at the first sign of pressure?

anyhoo, sunday is here again, along with a chance to go 8-4... since the league moved to a 16-game schedule 42 years ago, the rams have started a season 8-4 (or better) 10 times, can they make it 11?

Indeed. Expectations don’t always equal results.

Tomorrow is going to be interesting. And, I believe, a precursor to the remainder of the season.

that would work if nfl fans weren't nfl fans.... goff could run the table to super bowl sunday, but if he shit the bed in the super bowl, or was perceived to have shit the bed, we would be having the same post-game back and forth about goff that we're having now.... hell, in 2002 bulger went 6-1 covering for the banged up 0-6 warner, and followed it up by going 12-3 the following year while leading the rams to 4th in offensive scoring and the postseason... yet there was probably not a bigger qb stiff in rams history to more than a few rams fans after bulger and the rams lost to the panthers in the first round of the playoffs, ha ha...
