The Rams have added another dynamic playmaker to their defense, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract with free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Suh has been one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL since entering the league as the Lions’ No. 2 overall pick in 2010. He made an immediate impact in Detroit, recording 10.0 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovered for a touchdown, an interception, and three passes defensed in his rookie year en route to being named 2010 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.

After playing five seasons in Detroit — finishing No. 7 on the franchise list in sacks — Suh signed with Miami, where he’s spent the last three years. In that time, the defensive tackle recorded 15.5 sacks.

Suh hasn’t had many postseason opportunities, but he’s been at his best in them. In three career playoff games, he has recorded 3.5 sacks — with at least a half-sack in each contest.

Recognized as one of the game’s best interior pass rushers, Suh has recorded 51.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in his career. He’s been named to five Pro Bowls (2010, 2012-2014, 2016) and is a three-time first-team All-Pro (2010, 2013, 2014). Suh's durability is also notable, as he's missed only two games in his entire eight-year career.

Suh is likely to start alongside defensive tackle Aaron Donald — the 2017 AP Defensive Player of the Year — and defensive lineman Michael Brockers in coordinator Wade Phillips’ 3-4 scheme. Additionally, Los Angeles now has three of the players named AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in the last decade: Suh, Donald (2014), and cornerback Marcus Peters (2015).
