Admittedly, my answer was somewhat of a cop-out/hedge: I said, if the Rams are destined to win it all, I'd rather it be against the Patriots. If they're destined to be the runner-up, I'd rather lose to the Chiefs.

I guess I still feel that way. The thought of watching the Patriots celebrate again turns my stomach a bit, but the idea of getting revenge is pretty sweet.

Totally agree! I would rather lose to the Chiefs and be the runner-up.

The taste of the loss to the Pats in the last SB is extremely bitter and has lasting power for me. The Rams receivers were mugged the entire game -- so much so and so blatantly so that the rules were changed after that to give us what we have now. The pass-friendly NFL game. I'm fine with that. I'm not fine with the Pats finding whatever way they can find (Tuck Rule, anyone?) to pull out an undeserved win. Sick of it. Let's go Rams, let's put them to rest.

So let's learn from the past and NOT LOSE. That way Boston is the runners up AGAIN.

I wish I was there with you guys. Have that sort of contentment that the outcome isn't that important. But I just can't look past the fact that we are in the superbowl and no matter how much you wish it teams don't make it every year (unless you're the Pats). Smart talented teams with smart people in charge fall short every year so when you do make it you gotta take it all like Philly did last year. Who knows when we'll be back.

I also can't take the big picture view of this obviously successful season until Monday. I am too in the moment right now. It's like losing a SuperBowl is more painful than not making the SuperBowl.

This is exactly my feelings. No moral victories for me in a loss. Like the great Captain America said "We have to win, because i don't know what I'll do if we don't".

I'm kinda on the fence with this house money thing. I keep telling myself its ok if they lose. But I will be disappointed. I'll be pulling hard for a win. If it doesn't happen the one thing that will keep it from hurting too much is knowing we will be back. This team is a force to be reckoned with for several years. Win or lose the Los Angeles Rams are relevant once again.

Had we crashed out of the playoffs in our first playoff game, again, there would have been many questions, and a definite feeling of failed expectations. So having reached the Super Bowl, even if we lose, nobody is going to say that McVay and the Rams didn't meet raised expectations. So from that aspect, I understand the feeling that some won't feel terrible even with a loss.

Having said that, it's NOT ok to lose to the Patriots. If we win by the narrowest of margins, in triple overtime, I will be deliriously happy. What I really want, however, is a soul-sucking, dynasty-ending, never-in-doubt, wire-to-wire, crushing victory. Anything less than that, and I feel like the Patriots are the ones who get off the hook.

And I don't know if we'll get that, exactly, but overall I feel pretty good about the game. I think we'll win.

in a small way i agree with you snackdaddy...

im'right now ok with playing with house money, but the tension is starting to build because it's now all or nothing... win, we're champs, lose we're an asterisk...

i wannna make sure the pats are the asterisk...

until the game is played i won't know exactly how i'll take it.. but like others have said, and i agree... this, win or lose, has been a special season...

last year i was so pissed off that we lost, and that too was a special season.. but for me it was the suddenness of a loss i wasn't expecting... i was sure we would win, and that feeling came back to bite me hard...

i hope the rams manhandle the patriots, but in the end if it's close...

just win baby

I made the post about "house money" and I believe that but....... a loss will still hurt no matter what. They're there so I want them to win. Here's a question: had they lost to the Saints would we feel any better than if they lose the SB? I for one would not have felt any better with a loss to the Saints as opposed to a loss to the Patriots. I wanted them to go as far as possible and they have. Either way this is their last game of the season. But I really want them to win. Badly. Having said all that, yeah they are relevant and a force to be reckoned with going forward. But a lot of teams have been thought of like that only to piss out and not get back.
