That was the going 2nd contract number for WRs in 2018. Around 16 M. It was good of Cooks because he would have gotten more in 2019 if he waited to become a FA.

There's always risk. Not signing him and potentially losing him to FA is a risk too.

When it comes to evaluating offensive players i have a lot faith in this staff, certainly compared to the last few. So maybe this is Foles or Tavon redux but i doubt it. (And of course, under McVay, Foles is gonna be a lot closer to the ProBowl SB MVP QB we saw in Phili than the battered QB considering quitting the game Jeff Fisher produced.)

If Sean McVay likes Cooks this much, good chance he's right, imo...

didn't the rams sign woods to a 5-year deal before he played a snap in horns? seemed to work out pretty well.

Especially with what could be outstanding 2018 production. Nice to see a player coming to a new team showing complete commitment. Next up is the team showing complete commitment to AD.

These guys (McVay, Snead, Demoff, Kroenke) are setting things up to be a juggernaut for the new stadium. Incredible how things have turned on a dime.

You are comparing a FA signing to a guy who has a year left on his contract?

Ok then...

so then it's really not that the player hasn't played a snap for the team that bothers you, it's that you have a chance to get a cheap look-see year out of him and don't?

Great move.

In 2 years this is going to look like a bargain. It's actually a better deal than what KC is giving Watkins and we have the better player.

I hope that the people who were sobbing over the first round pick are doing OK now.

All true IMO.

I think the thing with the pick completely depended on the situation.

I have to say, if they didn't get him signed, spending the pick would have been costly.

But that's all water under the burning bridge now. They did sign him in which case they got a top receiver and it's easy to say the pick was spent wisely.

I figure part of this was Cooks. This was his third team in 4 years and he must have a sense that he knows what he likes in a team...and it's not just winning, cause he had that before. I can't help but think part of him just went "enough, I like it here."

Let's hope the Rams don't trade him.

Kidding. 8-)
