Indeed they did. Heck, they might blow us out. I just don't see that happening. Bortles threw 3 picks and the Jags D generated one sacks - the latter is an anomaly for them. The whiners only turned the ball over once. Therein lies the key. McVay wants to best Shanahan and will have this team well prepared to do so. Wade will have some pressure packages the whiners have not seen I believe.

And, most importantly, I WILL BE THERE IN ATTENDANCE

I think we still come away with a win on this one. Resting our key starters has taken some fire out of them. They were expecting to "test" themselves against the Rams but now know that a true test isn't happening. Listening to Shanahan pretty much confirms that. He understands the move but is really bummed they are not getting the Rams at their best. I think the players were psyching themselves up for a battle and now that battle will have to wait until next season. The Rams basically took away all of their pressure and put it all on the Niners. Rams can lose this game an no one will say it mattered (because it doesn't) BUT if the Rams can still come away with a win against a team that feels they are better than their record indicates and are SB bound in 2018 (according to the Whiner fans drinking the JGQ Kool-aide) what does that do their perception of who they are as a team.

Why would the "genius" trade such a great QB for only a 2 when his current starter is 40?

Let's see what happens next season before we start tearing down the Montana and Young statues for his. Remember the Niner's fans going apeshit over Kaeperdouche?

Also, I agree with Aeneas. I too live in NorCal and you'd think that Montana himself was returned listening to all these fair-weathered front-running Niners fans. I am seeing more Niners gear in the last 2 weeks than the last 4 years.

The Pats weren't going to be able to keep him for a price they were willing to pay so getting a 2 seems pretty shrewd to me.

Now the Niners have to figure out how to keep him, not unlike our situation with Sammy but probably higher stakes for SF...

Well why didn't you say so in the first place.

9ers don't stand a chance.

EXACTLY - I will be right behind the Rams bench, sitting on a gatorade cooler, studying my Microsoft Surface pad. Or watching the game and staring at my GF during TV timeouts, lmao. She HATES EVERYTHING SF. So I need this win for tangential reasons :)

Yeah, the pressure is squarely on the niners. No upside in this one. Win and you know why you won. Lose and people will start questioning if you were for real or a flash in the pan. Imagine the fallout if they lose to a Rams team that is basically going to be a preseason version of themselves?

Some shallow casual fans will celebrate beating the Rams but the real fans will know why. I know a lot of 49er fans and I'm sure some of them don't even know the Rams will be sitting some key starters. My son's friend is a whiner fan. When I told him Goff and some others won't be playing he said "Really?" Didn't even know it. Didn't care either.
