His inability to field a 21st century offense is what it's all about.

Makes you wonder what kind of career Steve McNair could have had if he played his entire career elsewhere.

It still boggles my mind that Fisher spent 1 off season bringing in all kinds of new weapons for Sam. They were going to operate a more spread type offesne and then over a matter of two consecutive ass whoopin to Dallas and San Fran, he scrapped it, never to be seen again
Makes me wonder just how much Fisher interferes with the offense. Maybe he was hands off and was letting Schottenheimer call what he wanted and then decided he had to step in, but historically, it would seem Fisher has his thumb on what his offenses are(n't) doing.

I don't know how much he gets involved with actual play calls; but, it's his philosophy that gets in the way of actually scoring points.

Fisher is a defensive coach. And his defensive approach is so good its stops his own offense

Fisher is so confident in GW that he spends a lot of time with the offense.

It might be better if it was the other way around, if Fisher had an OC (like a Norv Turner) that he had so much confidence in he didn't pay a lot of attention to it.

Now that's the question. Why has Fisher never hired a top notch self sufficient OC?

Maybe he's afraid the OC would get away from what he really wants? Which is a ground and pound, 3 yards and a cloud of dust type offense. Which is also an outdated offense for today's NFL. In order to do what he wants you have to have a top notch running back and a top notch line and a top notch defense. Line is bottom notch. RB is a ways off. Defense is not top notch. All that adds up to 5 or 6 wins if we're lucky.

We don't even run a ground and pound. It was 3rd and 1 and we went empty backfield...

That is really a telling point. Even Fisher knows we can't do what we are trying to do.
