and 4k broadcasting should roll out in 10+ years from now if 1080i is any indication...

Netflix has shows in 4K. It's remarkable really.

Have there been any 4K NFL games? All I've seems to have noticed is stuff like the Masters golf, some Olympic events, a few ESPN games and a a few Premiere League soccer games.

If any sport is going to gain from 4K/UHD, it's hockey.

Another option is HD remains free/mostly free while 4K becomes a premium option. People might be willing to pay for a big game or playoffs, but not for some 10am Pacific start time dog of a game between two bad teams eliminated from post season.

No NFL this season but a handful of live NBA games in local markets to be shown in 4K.

The Super Bowl was shot with 4K/8k cameras. You could wacth a replay of it in 4K for free if you have DirectTV.

I had to buy a replacement TV for the basement, it was cheaper to by a smart TV that had 4K than to buy without and apple TV for the kids to get to Netflix
Only expense I incurred was a wifi booster because the signal needs to be wicked strong

Any early adopters to HD remember the couple of seasons where ABC, NBC and CBS were doing full HD but Fox was rolling out their 480p SD widescreen?

I remember eagerly waiting to get the list mid week as to whether a Rams road game was going to be standard def or HD.

if you ever want to get around wifi distance/obstruction limitations, i highly recommend these gizmos that use your home's electrical circuit as ethernet lines... just plug one node into an electrical outlet near your router, connect a cat cable from the node to your router, then go to anywhere in your house you want a strong internet connection, upstairs, downstairs, etc., and plug the other node into an electrical outlet near your device, run a cat cable between the node and your device, and you have the equivalent of a long hardwire run... the instructions state that the nodes have to be on the same circuit, but i and other confirmed buyers have found that this isn't true, they can actually be on different circuits and work great, voodoo i guess... anyway i use a couple for my biz, i have one node in my office connected to my router, and another node downstairs, 1,000+ feet away, on a different circuit, connected to my credit card machine, works like a charm, and the encryption is great!

Even though I've got a top notch wireless router I still use a power line adapter to my DirecTV and AppleTV boxes. You still can't get past the stability of a wired connection.

I am so with you on that. In fact if something is on TV that I do want to watch, I record it, and then wait 20 minutes, then start it so I can zip thru.

It also is amazing how much more annoying commercials are after not seeing them for days, weeks on end. Haha
