This LA deal should be different. I feel it in my bones.

Pretty certain no other team thought these guys were credible as OC types

What did all 32 NFL GMs or people in GM positions have for lunch today?

I will ask about their favorite movies later.

Lunch? Edible foodstuffs.
Favorite movies? "The Great Escape" and "Ben-Hur".
Go ahead...prove me wrong.

Cignetti, who I don't believe had ever been an OC, was canned after 12 games. Yeah, he was good.
Boras...yeah, he's so wonderful Fisher had to bring in a passing guru to help Boras with the passing aspects of being an OC. Oh, and Boras did a heck of a job in that Niner game.

You can slice the rigatoni anyway you want, the prove is in the chicken pot pie, the offense blows and we don't have an OC that is NFL caliber. Notice all the OC offers being made to Cignetti? That would be none.

A lot of OC's and other coaches come and go each year never to be heard from again. Only the cream rises and then gets re-blended into the league mix. Cignetti was one of the former. But who knows, had the team been successful, gotten a few more breaks, perhaps Cig would have been in the mix a while longer. Success breeds longevity.

Or ,,, he just plain sucks and was lucky to get to the bigs in the first place and get a shot under a woefully defensive minded head coach.

We don't know about Cigz. He's now the qb coach for the Giants. Who knows where that will lead one day. If he struggled in year 1 he could improve down the line...who's to say.

And there have been defensive minded head coaches who can field good offenses. The fact of being defensive minded does not exclude that. In terms of coaches, head coaches or coordinators or otherwise, I don't think that has anything to do with how the Rams have played the last 2 years.

Why has the Rams offense been stalled the last 2 years? IMO 2 reasons.

1. They had a decent OL in 2013, but then it got injured all up, and they replaced it with youngsters in 2015. That right there is a formula for underperforming OLs. Why didn't they get more vets in 2015? Because (IMO) that would have just taken cap space out of 2016, 2017, and after, which means signing fewer of their own FAs. They chose their poison--go young on the OL mostly for future improvement, plus sign more of their own FAs.

2. In the last 32 games, the total number where they WEREN'T starting either a back-up (Hill, Davis, Keenum) OR a Foles in melt-down mode equals...4. That's 4 of 32 games where they had a starting caliber qb who was at least decent (as Foles was before the meltdown). I count 4 games for the non-melted down Foles, so that's how I come up with 4 of 32.

My bet is that you would have to search far and wide through all NFL history to find a team with BOTH problems that played well on offense.

I have seen people try to offer Denver as an example, but Denver's issues did not amount to 28 games with both of those problems.

So I get that you are saying there are other reasons for the win-loss deficit under Fishers regime. I see your point as much as I see way less than stellar offensive numbers. There is no disputing the number of needs the team had and the number of games missed by key guys. That is precisely why there is some hope that if the team stays healthy and clicks, we could be prime to host the Superbowl in 2020 ,,,, or sooner. Just need that 1-2 passing punch everybody would be talking about. Faster developing offense.
quicker pace stuff. But that is the opposite of ball control to excess.
This reminds me of the Dickerson years, , , If we only had a top QB. Then we get Everett right as ED's contract was being negotiated with the 'bean counter' Shaw. Off goes ED. AAUGH
