So I think Goff can be rattled, but this is a different Goff than the one we had with the Rams. I think what happened with the Rams is that McVay got in his ear and basically controlled the snap. That's good and bad. He's got McVay reading defenses for him-- but if they change things up after the snap... disaster. He's got to improvise and improvise after being told what McVay saw. Its a lot to process and I think it damaged him for the Rams.

With the Lions I think he got a bit more freedom and a better OL.

However, I think his weakness is still there. And his offensive weapons are limited. I think the Ram's pass rush is getting better-- and Goff isn't great at scrambling. So I like our chances.

I think Goff can throw accurately and quickly... so we need to make sure we cover tight. And watch the screens and dump offs behind the line of scrimmage.

Looking forward to this one. Its not a gimme, but definitely winnable.

The referee for Sunday night’s Rams-Lions playoff game, Craig Wrolstad, was at the center of a controversial Rams game last year. You might remember their Week 18 contest against the Seahawks to close out a forgettable 2022 season, a game that had significant playoff implications for both Seattle and the Lions.

The Rams lost that game, 19-16, in overtime, which punched the Seahawks’ ticket to the playoffs and prevented the Lions from getting in. There were a number of missed and poor calls in that Week 18 game, the majority of which benefitted the Seahawks.

It was so bad, in fact, that Adam Schefter reported at the time that a source told him it was “the worst officiated game of the year.” The Rams and Lions were both upset and frustrated by the poor officiating, while coaches and executives said “the NFL needs to reevaluate how it chooses and trains its officiating staff for future seasons,” per Schefter.

If you need a refresher on some of Wrolstad’s calls, this video will remind you of them.

The last clip in the video was from this season, a Week 7 loss by the Rams against the Steelers. Wrolstad was the referee in that game, which ended with a Steelers victory thanks to a very favorable spot on Kenny Pickett’s sneak on fourth-and-1.

No referee is without his missed calls, but Rams fans probably aren’t thrilled about Wrolstad being assigned to Sunday’s game. The Rams are just 3-6 in games officiated by Wrolstad since 2017, while the Lions are 3-2 in games where Wrolstad is the referee. Home teams won 62.5% of their games with Wrolstad as the referee this season, according to Russell Brown.

The Rams certainly aren’t concerned about the officiating crew assigned to their game, and they’ll solely be focused on ways to beat the Lions. However, their track record with Wrolstad isn’t great.

Something different than the Goff/McVay/Stafford.

I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up but it popped up in my mind. Aubrey Pleasant was robbed from our coaching staff by Brad Holmes. He was let go and brought back by the Rams. The Lions secondary is still junk and Pleasant took the fall.

I would think the Rams secondary is pumped to prove their coach right.

I'm not sure if Pleasant has any insider information but I'm sure he has plenty of motivation.

TE/LaPorta: knee/not looking good

TE/Wright: hip/ not looking good
Thats three key players from the offensive & ST,
that probable will miss the wildcard playoff.

DE/Houston: wk 2/ coming off broken ankle/ slow progress, but practicing.
WR/Williams: ankle/ full practice, will play on Sunday.

Just to add, the Lions do use a lot of the 12 PG,
about 16% from the 2022 season,
I couldn't find any updates stats for 2023.

Missing two TEs would take away that grouping,
But they do have one more TE from the PS they could bring up,
Or use a tackle eligible in which they do use a lot.
