At some point there were a lot of people who thought this guy was gold. Not many, lately, but I have a good feeling about this. Really thought he'd be a Niner, though, and this is just a little bit short of shocking.

"It's just kind of acquiring talent, to be honest, and acquiring somebody to come in and evaluate him, but also our offense," Rams offensive coordinator Liam Coen said Tuesday about the Rams claiming Mayfield. "Continuing to evaluate the offense [and] the other players. It's more so about acquiring talent. Just getting somebody in here that we can continue to develop some competitive nature within the room."

"If it is something that can provide a spark and somebody that can come in and help us compete to win football games, that's the ultimate goal for the last five weeks of the season," Coen said.

In other words......'we need somebody who can actually get the ball to the players we're trying to evaluate!!' :lol2:

Exactly. Dude can throw deep. Tutu is stoked. Lol.

People should pump the brakes on him as the next starter and franchise QB. Highly doubt Staff retires but ya never know. Baker has washed out at the Browns and Panthers, neither perennial world beaters.

I’d actually be surprised if he re signed here in the off season. Unless MCV is some kind of a QB whisperer. And I don’t think he is.

This!! ^^^

Small chance he becomes anything more than a backup. If If If he happens to play decent to well, Rams could sign as a backup if he has no takers as a starter or he does sign and we get some kind of comp pick. It would be cool if he was in our off season program to really learn the offense and get some good coaching.

If BM gets some time to throw,
Like a play action play,
I can see him hooking up with Tutu,
For 60yds in the air easlily.

Look at one of his throw going 60yds in the air,
Starting at the .30sec mark:

To be claimed of waivers is not really the front door. But I too hope that McV can do his QB whisperer thing with Baker.
If Stafford actually does hang them up, (or Kelli insists) Mayfield might bridge us until we have a shot at a higher 1st rnd draft pick and get the next qb. Or not...

So if Baker joins the active roster lets hope he can get some work done.
Shoot, he was a 1st overall pick.
And so was Stafford.
With Baker we have our trifecta. 3 #1 overall picked QBs in a row...

But Bradford was a 1st overall too.

I like this guy. Don’t care what no one says.

Man I go back to his offensive rookie of the year season. I remember the Baltimore game dude going head to head with Lamar Jackson.

Setting the rookie touchdown pass record. 27 touchdowns?????

Man this guy has a cannon. I’m just saying.

And I know a lot aren’t high on Mcvay now but he fixed Goff when he first got here. And he was great with Stafford last season in our super bowl season.

Stafford has a arm. Keep those same sets. It’s refreshing having a competent backup quarterback.

We get a number one draft pick. He won rookie of the year.

So get that tape what did he do that year that we can bring here.

I think Stafford definitely comes back next season. But I’d like to have Baker as his backup that’s what I wanted. And then give him the keys when Stafford retires.

You got Kupp Tutu Robinson Jefferson you’ve got competent receivers.

I think your gonna draft a good running back and fix the offensive line.

I thought he was good against Cleveland. He just fell off a little bit and I don’t know how good that Carolina situation was. I do like the situation here though.
