RedAlice wrote:Thank you for sharing that, C.

This isn't the first time, nor will it be the last that we feel the person behind the words we all type.

Some of us know each other in real life, some of us don't.

Feels heavy. I know I am the one who argued back when he was mad.

But he did something after that (as you shared) that most people don't do. He joined back in. He loved the Rams.

Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, you really laid into him. I remember that. I didn't recognize the name, did a search and when I saw his avatar I remembered him and some of the abuse he took. He was obviously frustrated and needed to let off steam. I hope he enjoyed the last several games of the season culminating with the Super Bowl win. It was a helluva year!

I'm not so sure. One of the most enjoyable RFU contributors of all time, @dieterbrock , once called me "an asshole". I think he pretty much summed me up very well...both my online and in-person personalities.

Anyone know whatever happened to db? He is missed.

CanuckRightWinger wrote:I'm with RamBro in that all TomSlick was saying, in his own way, was let's all practice a pinch of civility with fellow posters in general, because hey....maybe that RFU guy you are debating had a bad day. I think that's a good idea. :idea2: JMO.

I also get what RedAlice is saying that we are here at RFU to specifically talk Rams football :idea2: .....not our personal lives, moods, or mental states. That stuff is private and personal....for friends only. I agree with that too.

ME: The news about the sad passing of a couple of memorable & smart RFU fellow posters has reached us suddenly and almost simultaneously. So It's not a bad time, for any RFU poster, young or old, to maybe reflect a tad, huh....
and maybe that's what each of us is doing in our own individual ways.

We used to say in the military:
"Life is short, and then it's dark for a long long time....so in the meantime, have some friggin' fun, eh!!!" :idea2:

I think it behooves us all to just attempt to be a little kinder and gentler in our postings. Couldn't hurt....could it?
Let us endeavor to make RFU more fun! Less confrontational. Less polarizing.
We all spend time here. Why not maximize the pleasantness factor?
Not to overly dwell in a lot of somberness here, but I hope the above makes sense.

That's all this baby-boomer has to offer at this brief time of a little earnest reflection & contemplation.

Cheers from sunny Vancouver, BC! :!2:

Well written, Canuck.

Most likely very true.

No sane person kicks another when they are down. If we knew someone was suffering from depression, we would handle our communication differently, no doubt. If I sense someone is acting out of character then I may adjust my perception of what is happening and take a different angle on it.

I don't know many Ram fans who weren't suffering from depression while they were on that 46-113-1 run! Hostility may have been at an all time high then!! Civility was like that cousin nobody talks about!!

Which most times, is impossible on the net. I think all forum members practice civility. The problem begins when hostility is met with hostility instead of ignored. Then feelings get hurt, civility disappears and hostility is perpetuated over many threads. Perceptions. Some guys take disagreement as hostility. One certain poster always says, "I can disgree with you on one thread and totally agree in another" and there is some wisdom in that approach.

Cool. Thanks for the update Thug. Too bad for me I can't spread my allegiances beyond RFU. I think @Elvis commands @Hacksaw to break your legs if you try to leave RFU.
