They don't have to commit to or make decision about LA until next Jan. They already can use the ING open spot as leverage with SD.

Yes, which is why I don't get the rush to make this announcement.

It's not making sense to me. I just can't reconcile the idea that they want to play in the Coliseum this year.

I get what Max is saying, but still don't see the justification to rush it.

Think about the Clippers and Lakers right now. Thats what the Chargers are thinking. Only they think the Rams will be a losing team perennially and if they can be a playoff team they can do well in LA.

You guys need to be more critical of the Rams performance. They have been terrible to watch and they are losers. We are all hoping that changes based on blind faith.

Chargers were awful this year and are a team on their way down, however, I get it max Rams have to prove they can win more then they lose and they have not done that since 2004. But the Chargers don't scare me, they have lost some tough playoff games, but right now they are better at the QB position, but IMO after all those playoff loses some from the jaws of victory I'm not really worried about the Chargers winning more games then the Rams...And BTW ESK on different shows did talk about the Rams needing to win and at the press conference yesterday, that's all COO Kevin Demoff kept saying!

I guess we will have to see if they actually do it but I believe they will. Personally disappointing but more than that it's just plain dumb. The only reason the Clippings are getting any run is that the Lakers have fallen on hard times. Once they rise, (Kobe retires) they will dominate again. And sorry Dean, your team finished worse than ours. We are rising and the Chargers are not.

Obviously it would be great for the Rams to be the only team but if another team is coming, i'd much rather The Chargers than the Raiders. We sell them short but the Raiders have huge following in L.A. When the Rams were in Anaheim and the Raiders were at The Coliseum, they were the dominant team in L.A. They got more media coverage and they had more fans in the sports bars. No doubt it would be different with the Rams in L.A. proper this time but the Raiders are a force to be reckoned with here and i'd rather the Rams not reckon with it.

it was truly a bizarre scene when the raiders moved to los angles for the 1982 season, it was as if every l.a. rams fan spontaneously combusted, disappeared, replaced by nfl fans sporting silver and black.... it was bad enough their first year in l.a., a 9-game strike year no less, but it only got worse when they won the super bowl the following year, it was raiders mania...

the thing is the rams were a good team then, and just 3 years removed from a super bowl appearance of their own... from 1983-1989, i.e. the first 7 full years the raiders played in los angeles, the rams reached the postseason 6 times, 6 out of the 7 years, compared to the raiders' 3 postseason trips during the same time... moreover only 5 teams in the league had a higher winning percentage than the rams for the 1983-1989 stretch, and the raiders weren't among the 5... yet the raiders were the l.a. darlings... the rams finally did a nose-dive in 1990, and by 1994 only the truly hardcore rams fans seemed to be interested in the guys in horns.. it got so bad that i actually hoped the rams moved, i wanted them to go somewhere where they could get a new start and finally get some fan support...

I'm sticking with my prediction that they will stay in San Diego, and that this is just more maneuvering by the group that only knows how to politic.
