They should not be honored they betrayed the US Constitution and the rule of law by rebelling against the federal government because they wanted to protect slavery. And don’t even give me the War of Northern Aggression (which by the way was taught in the schools of many former Confederate states in the late 1900’s) States Rights revisionism bullcrap, the Southern planter class controlled southern state governments and led the charge to the Civil War to protect slavery. But if we get rid of Confederate monuments honoring them they we must get rid of Washington too because he was a slaveholder. Typical slippery slope, straw man argument of those who cannot win the argument. While a very small minority may believe that figures who owned slaves also need to go, the majority who want to see Confederate monuments go tomuseums so people can learn about that period of history as opposed to placing them in public squares as heroes. by HighRoller 4 years 11 months ago Total posts: 291 Joined: Oct 28 2016 LA Coliseum Rookie Redskins Name Change POST #33 Hacksaw wrote:Browns = Paul Brown.Since when is truth being included in the narrative. It is too close and easily misunderstood.Needs to go. There’s a major street in suburban St. Louis called Lindbergh Blvd. Its a street/highway that runs for like 30 miles. The closest analogy would be Sepulveda in Los Angeles. During WW2 part of the street/boulevard was renamed because of Charles Lindbergh’s support for Nazi Germany. It’s about a 3 or 4 mile stretch that changes names. Now nearly 75 years later theres a fresh push to drop the Lindbergh name from the rest of the road because of his anti-semitism. Especially in the heavily Jewish suburbs that Lindbergh Blvd passes through. I guess there’s supposed to be a protest today. What next? Now nearly 75 years later theres a fresh push to drop the Lindbergh name from the rest of the road because of his anti-semitism. Especially in the heavily Jewish suburbs that Lindbergh Blvd passes through. I guess there’s supposed to be a protest today. What next? Pull down the Spirit of St. Louis replica from the lobby at Lambert Intl Airport and the real one at the Smithsonian because it was flown by an anti-Semite. That and the Redskins name?So you think that "white people" as a group want to see Confederate statues and flags? My skin tone is "white," but I'm also Jewish. Do you think I favor such symbols, which have long been utilized by the KKK and other white supremacist groups that chant slogans like "Jews will not replace us"? Trust me when I tell you that, notwithstanding my melanin count, I feel no kinship with people like that. by AvengerRam 4 years 11 months ago Total posts: 8919 Joined: Oct 03 2017 Lake Mary, Florida Hall of Fame Re: Redskins Name Change POST #39 I like the name "Redtails." Not only would it be a great tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen, its also a cool bird, the red-tailed hawk, that lives in the DC area. It would also fit in with their fight song, "Hail to the Redskins" (other words could be altered and updated to fit the new name). by St. Loser Fan 4 years 11 months ago Total posts: 10888 Joined: May 31 2016 Saint Louis MO Hall of Fame Redskins Name Change POST #40 TOPIC AUTHOR We just have to face it that everything is under review now.
