J\k. I think this is a great move. A second and a fourth is great value IMO. Didn't we get Faulk for a second and fifth? And Faulk didn't have any injury concerns.

The last concussion he had wasn't even due to a "hit" from a player. Wasn't it from him going down to the ground? I remember being surprised he was concussed on the play. Didn't he have 2 last year alone? When you are getting multiple concussions in one season, it might be time to hang it up.

Good move by the Rams IMO.

Rams are losing a 4th round pick, not getting one.

your take is valid, and makes a lot of sense to me

Sometimes you gotta pay the piper to get rid of cancer.

Whatever it takes. GTFO?

Excellent argument.

Rams losing cap space from trade oops
....

https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2020/0 ... oks-trade/

When the Rams cut Todd Gurley, they did so before $10.5 million of his contract became fully guaranteed. One day later, they owed Brandin Cooks a $4 million roster bonus. Rather than trading Cooks before that deadline and saving that money, they opted to hold onto him and trade him less than a month later.

On Thursday, they sent Cooks to the Texans, ridding themselves of his massive contract – a contract the Rams gave him in 2018. By trading him away, though, the Rams don’t actually save any money like they did when they cut Gurley.

Quite the opposite, actually. Had they traded Cooks before his bonus was owed, they would’ve taken on $17.8 million in dead money. Since they waited, that dead cap charge jumped to $21.8 million – $5 million more than it would have cost them to just keep Cooks on the roster.

If the trade is designated as a post-June 1 transaction, it will allow the Rams to split the dead cap charge over the next two years, but regardless, they’re still eating $21.8 million for Cooks to not play for them.

The Rams quickly gave Cooks an $81 million extension after acquiring him from the Patriots in 2018, locking him up before he could play out the final year of his rookie contract. It didn’t seem like a terrible decision at the time, and even after Cooks’ first year with the Rams, it didn’t look bad.

But in hindsight, the Rams got very little out of Cooks for what they paid. He got $40.4 million from Los Angeles for just two seasons and 1,787 yards – 1,204 of which came in 2018 alone.

To say this contract was a mistake would be a massive understatement.

Second, they paid him that huge contract and had to get out from under it. Thank heavens for the idiot O'Brien. But getting saved by a crazy coach doesn't erase paying out that huge contract in the first place.

No you’re exactly right.

They gave up a 1st rd pick and paid out about $27m for 850 yards per season and 3.5 TD’s over two seasons.

Not to mention the dead money they will occur.

Doesn’t matter what they got for him in trade that’s a big L.

A horrendous deal!!

I think it is fair to say the Rams have somewhat missed on two WR's (Watkins & Cooks). Cooks is the bigger one as they gave him a contract worthy of a superstar which he isnt due to size, hands and injuries. On the other hand they hit it huge with Woods and Kupp and to a lesser extent Reynolds.

Rams need to hit it big time in this draft. Draft is always key but this number of picks is going to be foundation of team in a few years.

I would draft EDGE and ILB in 2nd round, draft RB & WR in 3rd round unless there is signicantly better talent in 2nd round at those positions.

I hope Snead chills on the trades for Vets. He better start drafting players to develop and hope they develop quickly. Or he will be out of a job soon. Stan didn’t get rich by making stupid deal that cost him millions. Can’t see him keeping employees around who make these kind of mistakes with HIS money.
