Well to be real about it, no one has ever "told you" that. 8-) QBs fail all the time behind good OLs. If that weren't true, the late 70s, early 80s Rams would have won every game.

A stout line would probably help Goff more than Dak. No line could help Dak's accuracy compared to Goff's, , , or the
'turd's playbook...

They will next season. Unless they want to move on from him. If they do that they will be in that dreaded "Team that doesn't have the QB position settled" category.

Today Goff is overpaid. In two or three years that deal won't look so bad when QB's are making 40-50 mil. There aren't many Tom Brady's out there willing to take less to help the team.

It's funny how perceptions morph from year to year, game to game. As Avenger Ram said, "it's hard to maintain a consistent contender". For a lot of reasons. Injuries? Sure EVERYBODY has them but to whom? Schedule? Sure, win and the following year you play teams that were also big winners. Scheme? Yup, give a talented coaching staff an off season to dissect your approach and your approach better be a little different if you are going to succeed.

Dudes and dudettes, we are experiencing a down year but there's no reason to go to extremes and suddenly believe Goff can't play, McVay can't coach and the Rams can't compete. The Rams will again come to the forefront and then Goff will be a stud QB, McVay will be an offensive mastermind and the Rams will be winners again. My god, after going to the postseason 5 times in 27 years, we've been there 2 straight and though it's not looking good presently, we're still in the hunt. Whatever happens will determine just how caustic our attitudes become. In the meantime I'm going to appreciate the effort just the same as I believe this year is just a blip.

Great post as always. I'm hoping you're right, but I've seen this movie before.

I posted earlier this week how Jim Everett fell off the map in 90 and never was the same again until the Rams traded him to NO.

Then you got Warner. He never really rebounded from the 01 SB loss with the Rams. He was a turnover machine from 02 on. Only after being signed by the Cards did he regain his old form.

Then we move to Bulger who looked great at the end of the 06 season but wound up sucking for 3 seasons after that.

I guess my point in all of this is you say it's hard to maintain a winner and although i agree it's easier to maintain it that it is to lose it all and get it back again.

I'm afraid that's what the Rams have done. Lost it. I think they got pretty full of themselves and thought they could just move the next guy up on the OL. That was their undoing imo.

And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family my friend.

Losing Monday night's game was pretty bad. Not so much losing the game but the way they lost it. But you know what? If we looked much better and lost a close game in the final seconds, we'd still be in the same boat. It was the previous games that put us in this spot. It began with losing to a not so good Tampa team. Then the missed field goal. We flat out got beat by the 49ers. Then we lost a winnable game in Pittsburgh.

The 2019 Rams are just not a good team it appears. I think we aren't as good as our record. I have doubts we could beat any of the 6 win teams right now. They lost their mojo, swagger, whatever you want to call it. Mainly because what was once a strength is now a weakness. The offense.

McVay needs to find a way to right the ship. They seem like a ship that broke a rudder and has no idea where its headed. Goff needs to find a way to get better. He has certainly regressed. I think its fair to wonder if he really is that franchise quarterback. Right now he's not looking like one.

They need to figure something out this year. Not for the playoffs because that ship has sailed. They need to fix some things soon so they have something to carry over to next season. If they plod their way through the rest of the season going 2-3, or worse, fans will start to lose interest. Even with the new stadium opening.

Right on. And they mortgaged the future and have no 1st round picks until 2022. :shock2:

Wait. I was told draft picks didn’t matter.

When people say they mortgaged the future with the big contracts, I don't agree. The cap is increasing every year and could easily see its biggest increase when the new CBA kicks in. But whey someone says they mortgaged the future with the trades, its possible unless the guys they traded for are that good. We know Cooks is good. Time will tell if Ramsey makes that much of a difference. The Goff trade was looking good until this year. Now we don't know.
