All the physical talent in the world in his arm but those knees...Marino had to quit because of the same type of thing and his weren't nearly as bad as Namath's. That poor guy was literally butchered by the primitive levels of reconstruction they had back then.

I wonder how Namath would fare in today's game with all of the coaching and playcalling? I mean, as great and legendary as he was, he did have maturity issues. Just imagine him getting paired with someone like Todd Haley? Yeesh. That's one of the things that I think Warner rarely gets enough credit for. He was willing to accept criticism and take coaching.

And speaking of Warner, that bountygate shit is what Namath had to deal with all the live long day. One game of it pretty much led to Warner walking away and Namath took it for a decade. Even then, he would have come back for more if some team had given him the QB job.

For me it was Bob Waterfield. Remember when Jane Russell would pick Bob up after practice. Terri Moore would pick up Glenn Davis. Anyone remember when training camp was in Redlands. Guys would come to camp out of shape and would sweat I mean sweat. Proud to be a Rams fan for 70 years.

i'll forever be a namath fan, the guy was such a stud, i remember the old football rags that would always seem to pit the long-haired, mustached namath against the flat-top sporting staubach and unitas on their covers, i sure as hell knew who i wanted to be!

sadly, by the time joe got to l.a., not only was he beat up and on his way out, but i think his enthusiasm had gone from football to hollywood.

Do you remember the movie, CRAZYLEGS? I saw it on TV when I was just a little kid.

Yeah , I sure do remember Crazy Legs. WhenI was a youngster we had more access to the players. Saw Elroy Hirsh run up close and understood why they named him Crazy Legs. Sat next to Butch Robertson on the bench one time.

John Hadl for me also.

He had one magical year for the Rams and feel so fortunate that I was tuned in.
