I think, in all likelihood, this is Stan doing his due diligence to present the strongest case possible at the owners meeting, but we shall see...

Not saying Carson can't happen, but there is much, much more to deal with if they approve Carson. Two teams move into the same market at the same time creates a lot of problems to figure out. Find a temporary site for two teams to play, sell PSL's for two teams, re-alignment of divisions, remediation of the site and figuring out the timeline of construction, which can't be done til remediation is complete and no one knows til it starts when that will be. NFL and owners will have to contribute G-4 loan? Those are just from the top of my head. I'm sure there's more. Do all the owners understand all that and are willing to OK Carson anyway?

Don't worry, team valuations will skyrocket so much and piggy bank Goldman Sachs will foot the bills at zero interest I'm sure, so these other issues will work themselves out. I mean, the market is so lucrative no team has played there in 21 years.

Plus the Raiders. Hell, they've been looking for a new stadium for 35 years. Moved from the East Bay, to LA, back to the East Bay to get one, but all they got were some crappy renovations. Time to give LA another crack. They've been too cheap to ever fund anything, but did steal Irwindale's 10 million back in '87. After investing that in the stock market after black Monday 1987, now they're coming to LA with a pile o cash.

Did the NFL get Irwindale's $10M?

Report today in PD says he liked some aspects of Riverfront proposal.

Or... it could be Stan merely creating the illusion of cooperating. All of it.

I see this as perception management. ESK is using the takeway principle. Can you imagine how panic'd Goodhell must be if he thinks that ESK may actually pull-out of plans to create the NFL's crown jewel. This is ESK telling the NFL to make a decision or you're going to lose the opportunity. That's why THIS time the meeting made the media, and the last times it did now. Everyone is a Chess piece, and the public are the Pawns :)

You know Stranger, this make good sense. More ball squeezing going on than a baseball pitcher or boyoid party.

Both sides will be able to extract what they want from the meeting, given that nothing is known. It certainly is unlikely to hurt St Louis's chances at keeping the Rams. It could be that Stan wants to make sure he informs Nixon why, and how he can fix the issues to make another team move there, it could be a sign that Stan isn't confident, and wants to ensure all options are good. At this point people will take what they want from the news, ultimately I don't know if it means much, but its probably not bad for the St Louis fans. If its good for them is yet to be seen.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that ESK holds the most cards.

- ESK has the most achieveable plan (all dependencies have been satisified except for the political one (aka NFL owners approval)).
- ESK has all the resources necessary to execute his plan [now]
- ESK's plan represents the NFL's best chance to develop the LA market the soonest
- The NFL needs the LA market to achieve it's revenue targets
- ESK staying in StL delays the NFL's ability to achieve it's revenue target by years

It's ALL upside for ESK to move now, and it's ALL downside if he does not.

Man, either these owners are stupid, petty, or everything we know is wrong :)
