But he also showed that he couldn't elevate his game and carry the team when the running game got taken away. I've never been a Bortles hater but the Jaguars were right to move on. Bortles may benefit from a change of scenery and more importantly, McVay's tutelage. But I don't see his acquisition as anything more than career rehab and a chance at a starting gig in '20. by BobCarl 5 years 6 months ago Total posts: 4386 Joined: Mar 08 2017 LA Coliseum Superstar About that Jared Goff 5th year option POST #38 moklerman wrote:... he also showed that he couldn't elevate his game and carry the team when the running game got taken away.Don't all we need out of him is to be a "system" player? I'm joking.I trust Bortles to mop up late in the 4th quarter once the Rams are leading by 42 points. No sense in keeping Goff in the game in those situations. ne supra crepidam sutor iudicaret by dieterbrock 5 years 6 months ago Total posts: 11512 Joined: Mar 31 2015 New Jersey Hall of Fame About that Jared Goff 5th year option POST #39 TOPIC AUTHOR R4L liked this post When McVay sits his starters against the 49ers and Cardinals because the division is long since clinched, I expect Bortles to light it up, unlike his predecessor "The beaver heaver". But he also showed that he couldn't elevate his game and carry the team when the running game got taken away. I've never been a Bortles hater but the Jaguars were right to move on.
