actionjack wrote:well werent we last year as far as "we are all in" etc. I mean the mainstream is lazy and they just repeat the same things. This is catch phrase "the Rams mortgaged the future etc etc".

Now I am seeing McVay is leaving because "we have not draft picks", I mean we have all our 2023 picks but 1st, 4th and 5th, but extra 6th and we have comp picks coming. We have all our picks in 2024 and beyond...

Yeah. I could give a rats ass what the talking heads think of the Rams or what other fan bases think of the Rams. We're the defending SB champs and no team has been to the SB more than McVay's Rams 2017-2021. No team has won more during that time either!!

Laughing stock? Who's laughing, the media? Like you said, they were laughing at the "all in". The niners or their fans? 1995 was the last time they were defending SB Champs. Seattle? 2014. Arizona? NEVER and currently they're in worse shape than the Rams. Tell me who has been better than the Rams the last 6 years! Whomever that is can laugh.

"Oh my gosh, what does the rest of the league think of us??? My, my, my!"

What they're thinking is 'oh good, maybe they're finally not a threat. Maybe.'

Yep. I haven't heard laughter but their might be some relief to those who predicted our demise due to our methodology and can now crow a bit. And as you said, we're allegedly not a threat.

It would be great for us to rebound without SM and get the last laugh.
But then watch, the 'it was the players not the coach' rumblings boil up. 🤦‍♂️

Plenty of fans around the league probably would not admit it, but most fans would love to see a championship even if it meant losing afterwards. That is the goal for all of us fans. I guarantee 100 percent of the players would want their teams to go all in for a championship. That is what they play for.

The undisputed Supreme NFL Coach is Bill Belichick with his 6 Lombardi Trophies. Period. Full Stop.
Here's how I see a hypothetical conversation going between BB and Patriots Owner Robert Kraft that somewhat parallels our ongoing TinselTown soap opera:

BB: Robert, I come to you today to ask a big favor. My marriage is on the rocks. I do not want to go through another divorce.
Kraft: Tell me how I can help you my friend.
BB: I need a year off to fix things and stabilize my marriage long term.
Kraft: A year off?? How do you mean Bill?
BB: Matt Patricia can be the Interim HC for 2023. He can run the D, which is his first love anyway. I've already talked, unofficially of course, to Kingsbury and he'd be honored to run the Patriots Offense for 2023, and he'd be willing to sign a OneYear Deal too! I could come back and take over from Matt for 2024, and Kingsbury would be gone to some other gig, and we'd stipulate it would have to be to the NFC in his 2023 Contract. So, in my mind, this whole thing could work out just fine! What do you say Robert?
Kraft: Bill, you have done so much for me and this Franchise......but I cannot sign on for what you are asking for......and I will tell you why.
I am only the owner of this New England Patriots Franchise for one reason, AND ONE REASON ONLY! BECAUSE I WAS 110% ALL-IN!!!!
I was all-in on the financial risk committment.
I was all in on the time-away-from-family committment.
And most of all I was All-In on the Best-Product-On-The-Field-For-The-Fans Committment!! :idea2:
BB: And I helped deliver that Product to our Fans!!!
Kraft: Yes you did Bill.......and you did a fantastic job, which I am forever grateful for.....NOT JUST FOR ME, BUT FOR OUR FANS!!!
And that's why I cannot sign-off on your Hiatus Plan.....because how THE FUCK can Matt Patricia be All-In, if he knows it's only a OneYear Deal, huh? :roll2: And if Matt isn't All-In.....then by definition Bill........THEN ME, ROBERT KRAFT IS NOT ALL-IN!! AND I CANNOT DO THAT TO OUR MILLIONS OF PATRIOT FANS AROUND THE WORLD!
I WON'T DO THAT TO OUR FANS!
BB: But Robert....
Kraft: BUT NOTHING! DO YOU EXPECT ME TO SAY TO OUR FANS THAT FOR THE 2023 SEASON, JUST PUT AN ASTERICK BESIDE IT, BECAUSE BILL BELICHICK IS IN CROATIA WITH HIS WIFE SAVING HIS FUCKING MARRIAGE!!!??? :roll2: :arrow2: :evil2:
NO SIR! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
END OF DISCUSSION.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I do not think the above is too far-fetched, as to how that Boston convo would go down.

Here in TinselTown, this "100% blessing from Kroenke on down for McVay's current stated position" is NOT a matter of record IMO.
It is rather a matter of conjecture IMO....
as neither Kroenke, Demoff, nor GM Les Snead have taken any definitive position on McVay's mental-wrestling with his specific future as Rams HC. In fact, the silence, IMO has been deafening. :idea2:

Here's why I think Kroenke, Demoff and Snead are mum on this limbo-ville McVay quagmire:
Sean CharmingGenius McVay, unlike Bill CrustyLikeABarnicle Belichick, has charmed his way into the hearts of key US National Sports Media types, and fostered strong friendship-type bonds with these very influential media people.
Besides being charming, McVay is also very shrewd IMO. He has utilized (enlisted?) his friendships with media-types Peter Schrager, Rich Eisen, Andrew Whitworth, Colin Cowherd et al, and spun this very compelling and sympathetic story about "mental exhaustion" "emotional burnout" "being wired differently, so he is TOO HARD on himself" "preoccupation with his In-Laws in war torn Ukraine" "being consumed by losing" "desire to start a family" etc etc etc That is the "McVay Spin" on this situation where the negatives of losing & irrelevancy have been seemingly overly-hard-to-take for Sean McVay....and he wants to manufacture an unprecidented type of Furlough/Hiatus from his Ram HCing duties, but without totally relinquishing the position.

IMO, for Kroenke to speak out, NOW at this point, in a manner I outlined above in my Kraft/Belichick convo.....or for that matter, for even Demoff or Snead to speak out in that Robert Kraft-like manner, indicating that the Team's welfare & performance trump any individual's welfare concerns due to the obligation of producing the best for the fanbase.........

well, nobody with half-a-brain is going to step into that public relations beartrap!!
I mean, you would simultaneously look
-insensitive to the overall humanity concern for good mental health/well-being;
-unfeeling for young newly weds earnestly pre-planning hard to be the optimal parents;
-dismissive of Ukrainian war dead and human suffering;
-ungrateful for McVay's contributions to past Ram fortunes.....

in short, anybody telling McVay that his request for a hiatus from the stresses of coaching is selfish,
not advantageous for good 2023 Ram results with a placeholder/interim HC in charge,
not fair to the fans, etc etc....

anybody singing that Hey,WhatAboutTheProductForTheFans? song would be made to look like a cross between Donald WhatVirus? Trump, and Heinrich Himmler by the National Sports Media IMO.

.....and that's why I think the Rams leadership troika is mum right now. McVay set this media landscape up with his media buddies IMO...
....and right now, Sean McVay is holding all the cards! :idea2:

Smart Irishman that McVay guy! :idea2:

As always, JMO.

Love your comments Canuck. We're in lockstep with this McVay drama and the media leaks. I love McVay and would really like to see if the Rams and McVay could build a new "mousetrap" ........aka the current way and structure of a HC running a team. One that will provide McVay the support to endure a taxing season without jeopardizing his family relationships, but taking a one year hiatus is asinine.

Can you imagine a CEO telling his board of trustees he wants a year off to go to the Hamptons and clear his mind and wants to come back in a year if an interim CEO would be willing to keep the seat warm for a year.

Or an Army General running a battalion who goes to the Secretary of the Army and says I need a year off, but hold my command position and I'll be back in a year.

To even proffer that a one-year hiatus is a good idea is both weak and short-sighted. If I was Kroneke I would tell McVay I will fully invest in anything that can make you a better coach, a better husband, a better son, while still doing the job you were contracted to do, but giving you a one year sabbatical is not in the cards. Can't do that because of the fans, the players, the coaching staff, the trainers, the physical therapists, the media folks who have to be burdened with that messaging for a year and the resulting clumsiness that will transpire over that year.

It's either get back to coaching with some added support personnel both on and off the field or quit. I'm old school but this talk of a walkaway year with an option to return is complete and utter BS in my mind.

Agree with the above commentary. Telling Raheem that he is just an interim is uncool. If he does well in 2023 then McVay comes back in '24...you don't think there will be a riot in the locker room?

The Saints held Sean Payton's seat for him for a year during his suspension. It was not Payton's choice to take a leave of absence, but they held his position for him nonetheless. That was surprising to me at the time, but he was that important to their organization.

Every situation is different. Stan Kroenke is not your average owner, he runs his teams his own way. After everything McVay has done for Kroenke and the Rams, nothing Kroenke decides to do for McVay will surprise me. There's no rule book to cover situations like this. Stan writes his own rules.

Oh, and you can't convince me that Robert Kraft wouldn't do anything in the world for Bill Belichick. After all he's meant to the Patriots, and to Kraft.

With McVay, his return is uncertain.

So was Payton's. He said he wanted to come back, but I remember a lot of uncertainty floating around the Saints and that whole situation.
