Can't copy post link but..the court hammered him hard.

"The discipline stems from a May, 2016 arrest which led to a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs.

He pleaded guilty in January according to a spokesman with the L.A. City's Attorney Office. McDonald was sentenced to the following: 36 months of summary probation, $390 fine plus penalty assessments, a three-month alcohol program (AB541), 200 hours of court approved community service, and 18 narcotic anonymous classes."

Forget the recent arrest. McDonald ( must of had) previous issues with the substance abuse policy as opposed steroids drug abuse policy.

Eight games means that you were in the protocol before this incident. It is why the Rams or no one else had showed any interest. They (NFL) knew about this problem.

I always wondered if Joyner could play free safety. Aggressive, hard hitting DB. Very good closing speed. Who knows? Might be a guy who could roam sideline to sideline like Earl Thomas.

I thought he played safety at FSU? But to your point, sure he could.....in fact, I'd bet he could play linebacker if you asked him to. Thomas, Joyner and Bob ? (I forget his name; from Indy) are all the epitome of that corny saying about the size of the fight in the dog.

Likely waited for the length of the suspension before any offer was made. 1 year at a pro rated pay, likely his next contract won't be at the level it could have been.
