Here is my opinion.

Stafford has never been a Ram, until next season.

Fuck his past. It’s about now. Dude has only known Detroit. Guess what? We are Los Angeles.

He is entering a world with the #1 ranked Defense in the ENTIRE NFL.

it’s a step up for him. He’ll be ancy to: show us.

Do not ever forget. It doesn’t matter who comes here, we make them better. We are the Rams. Stafford is joining us.

The LIONS were 5-46 against winning teams and 1-25 on the road against winning teams.

And yeah, those new uniforms :?

I was appalled and pissed at the same time. There was already a crack in that dam and the Rams just ignored it. I am on the record here in this group(and others) with my displeasure.

I lived in Detroit for 17 years. I was seated at the 40 yard line in the Silverdome on October 6, 1975(36-10 loss to the Cowboys) for the very first game at that venue. I actually won those tickets on a local radio trivia contest. It was a MNF game. I have been watching the Lions since the 70's when I moved(under great duress) from Socal to Detroit. Matthew Stafford is the REAL DEAL. He will make the Rams better. The Lions franchise, for lack of a better word, SUCKS and always has. The best back the NFL has ever seen walked away from the game(in his prime) rather than to play another minute for that miserable organization. The naysayers will be shocked at how well this works out and how records are useless in evaluating this trade.

Thanks for the input. That's why I ignore any assessment of Stafford based on W-L record. I honestly haven't seen him play much the last couple years so could you answer a question about his mobility? I've heard him described as a statue in the pocket which is quite contrary to the memory I have of him.

I can't remember where I heard it, but someone anonymously quoted a GM saying it scared him to think what Stafford could do with McVay.

Honestly is has been a travesty to his career, he has still put up great numbers, but never gets mentioned with the top 5ish QB's. Detroit is like a dead zone, no one pays attention to what goes on with that team. Now Stafford should get his due. No go get Marvin Jones!

Ndamukong Suh: I talked to Jared Goff about going to Detroit

Posted by Myles Simmons on February 1, 2021, 12:50 PM EST

Two years ago at this time, Jared Goff and Ndamukong Suh were on the Rams preparing to play the Patriots in Super Bowl LIII.

Now Suh is back in the Super Bowl, and Goff just got traded to the Lions — the team that drafted Suh at No. 2 overall back in 2010.

“I actually spoke to Jared Goff the other day when [the trade] actually happened, just to let him know that he’s going to a great city in Detroit and I’m excited for him, and let me know if he needs anything,” Suh said Monday. “I know a lot of people up there, a lot of great people in the community that will be happy to help him get his feet settled and what not.”

Suh had 4.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, and four passes defensed with the Rams in the 2018 regular season, with 1.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, and five QB hits in the postseason.

Later asked specifically about quarterback Matthew Stafford heading to L.A., Suh said it’s potentially “really good” for him.

“Hopefully get a chance to play against him next year, wherever I might be — hopefully here in Tampa — and go from there,” Suh said.

For what it’s worth, the Rams will host the Buccaneers at SoFi Stadium next fall.

An opinion from a friend who alerted me to this news & is a fan of San Francisco:

Rams did overpay.

Stafford is a better QB than Goff.

After reading through the rest of this thread, I'd add :

"Every year is a Superbowl/bust," but how orgs choose to build their teams over a period of time indicates what their favored modes & desires are -- to win big all-in-one-go, to construct a dynasty, etc.

This tracks wanting to win big all-in-one-go.

From a distance, I've always admired Stafford's talent & play through the years.

The team would benefit next season with some option for Reynolds; it's felt like he has had to take on a role he isn't suited best for?

Agree consolidation on OL must be addressed in off season.

It’s happened before.

Jim Plunkett.

Another similar situation that comes to my mind is Carson Palmer, though it was more a matter of injuries that caused him to be written off.
