Here's another commentary.

https://www.weatherworksinc.com/weather-and-football

Warm climate teams...[win] approximately 35% of the time playing at cold weather stadiums (when it is cold). For reference, the league average winning percentage for away teams is 42.7%.

I am a wuss.

Just finished skating at the Daley park ice ribbon. Hella wind burnt in the face and my fingers (even with gloves) are numb.

I have concerns about what Goff can throw and what the WRs can catch.

Take care of yourself friend.

I am of Scandinavian heritage and can take the cold better than others I believe. As well as can't take the heat as well as others.

The Rams are going to get plenty of time to acclimate. I am of one to believe that all the elements affect both teams equally.

Our Rams are going to be just fine.

Trubiski's L's / Temp's
Week 1 @GB, 70° /47°
Week 6 @ MIA, 88° /77°
Week 7 vs NE, 50° /28°

Trubiski's W's / Temp's
Week 2 vs SEA, 92° /69°
Week 3 @ AZ, 104° /78°
Week 4 vs TB, 68° /54°
Week 8 vs NYJ, 52° /44°
Week 9 @ BUF, 49° / 30°
Week 10 vs DET, 42° /29°
Week 11 vs MIN, 38° /25°

So he's played in one more sub 30° game than Goff has. Not much advantage there. Goff did win both of his sub 30° games with both being on the road and one at elevation.
(Precip and wind unknown)

MT is from Carolina and JG from NoCal which is actually a bit further north so potentially colder.
I just don't see the temperature being a distinct advantage for Trubisky based of their body of work.
Goff hasn't looked as solid in the bitter cold games but who does? And MT hasn't played in a couple games at all.

I think this game is going to come down to the men in the trenches and the ability of the RB's to get it done. I'll take Gurley III / Davis over Howard / Cunningham (Benny) all day on any Sunday.

Chicago has the same problem.

I have a feeling when the game gets going and the players start running around and getting hit, there isn't much focus on the temperature. The focus is on executing and making plays. They might notice it when they're on the bench a few minutes. But it isn't the Lambeau Field playoff sub zero wind chill type of game. I personally think it won't be as big a deal as people think. It'll come down to what we do against a good Bears defense more than anything.

Yeah, teams in those cold weather cities know how to cope better and live there year round. They cope by wearing gloves, coats and hats when it's cold outside!!! :roll2:

Your post made me think of another point. Those cold weather teams "play in it" more than the So. Cal type teams but how often? 2 home games every December?

Different people give different numbers on that.

One source I cited has away teams winning 35% of the time when the cold is a factor.

So pretty clearly not much of a factor, though i guess you could argue the expected under performance of the visiting team would be built into the spread and therefore this doesn't tell us anything...
