I don't live "in" LA but I'm pretty close and I don't know any LA Chargers fans. I know a few Chargers fans from before, from when they were in SD but I don't get the impression that they are catching on in LA at all.

As opposed to the Raiders back in the day. There were a LOT of fans who welcomed, embraced and adopted them right away.

Between the Raiders and Chargers it's just a shame that so many fans have to be screwed because of "cheap" billionaires. Had Spanos put ANY effort into being fair about a new stadium in SD the Chargers would still be there.

I agree with the first half of what you're saying but SD really didn't do jack to keep the Chargers. They put stuff on the ballot. It was voted down. Same with Oakland and the Raiders. And if Kroenke had tried to get L.A. to pony up to get the Rams to come here, that would've failed too.

Not much interest in public money for the NFL in California...

I know, that's the point. Billionaire owners doing an Oliver Twist impersonation. Spanos wouldn't contribute or even offer an help in paying for a new stadium for the Chargers so San Diego told him to go pound sand. If he'd done ANYTHING at all I think the Chargers would still be in San Diego.

If they'd offered to pay half the expense of putting a stadium downtown near the Padres ball park I think it would have moved forward. But Spanos wanted the city to give him premium land, pay for the stadium, etc. On the heels of Kroenke doing the exact opposite in LA.

Then, Spanos' greed is rewarded by letting him coat tail on Kroenke's hard work and money? It's disgraceful.

Personally,,,

I think Kroenke has that plan set with the NFL getting both game for Pre-season and the first season game.....

Especially to start a pre-season game... when the RAMS first came back in 2016..
They filled the Coliseum with 89k in 2016 and the Chargers couldn't get their soccer stadium filled in 2017, the max is 28k, and they had 21k,,, and in 2019,,, 23k, for both pre-season games at least half were from the other team for all three games... while the RAMs had 66k in 2019

I can see the RAMs playing the Cowboys for the first pre-season game being sold out,,

and the Pats for the first season game on a Sunday or Monday night game being sold out...

Or the RAMs playing the Cowboys for the first season game.... and pre-season a tossup team.... possible the RAMs and Chargers,,, with it being the RAMs home game... and the Chargers the visitors.... :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

If I'm not mistaken,,,,
San Diego want to build next to the old stadium,,,, and would of gave in...
But Spano wanted something down town,,,

it could of worked being next to the old stadium if Spano would of given in, with the G4 loan,,, plus the money he had to give up to move to L.A...
Also I believe NFL would of approve to double the G4 Loan...
But he was just trying to cockblock Kroenke from moving to L.A at first....

The only reason why he moved to L.A. he had no choice, cause it was about getting more value to his team with the move and he had no more chance control the L.A. market..... Plus to cockblock the Raider from moving to L.A....

A lot of owners are upset.... cause they lost revenues from San Diego...

I thought that Green Day/Weezer/Fall Out Boy stadium tour next summer would be a candidate for Inglewood: but the LA date is going to Dodger Stadium.

Remember though, another unique aspect of this stadium is it has its own separate performance venue for concerts and stuff. So they may do something like that but that would not help with the main stadium.

Also, as far as the Chargers, as much as I loathe them being in LA, I do agree using taxpayer money for stadiums is a terrible idea. Which is funny, as California is fine with just about every other terrible taxpayer idea there is. But for sports, the line in the sand is drawn.
But what was so bad about Qualcomm? He is paying like 200m in just moving fees. Put 100m in to Qualcomm and you could have some pretty awesome suites and upgrades all over. The guts on that stadium were fine.
