POST #21 The defense was definitely getting beat down yesterday, but I would have also run Gurley more. The play that Goff got stripped, I actually wanting to see a Gurley run. Goff must work on that pocket awareness and learn to keep the ball higher waiting to throw. POST #25 DirtyFacedKid liked this post The offense was on the field for 20:48. The defense was on the field for 39:12. That's 45 plays on offense v. 85 on defense. The offense was 2 of 7 on 3rd down conversions, which is below their season average of 42%. The offense got a short field on the INT and 7 points came from the blocked punt. So it's fair to argue it didn't do its share. The defense was part of the 3rd quarter resurgence but in the end they were on the field an awful lot. I don;t see how this loss goes on the D. Get more plays on offense just by sustaining drives and the game is different. Not putting it all on the offense. Tru's penalty was costly. Losing Webster hurt. They had the usual issues with run defense. But your offense is supposed to get more than 45 plays. Sometimes that happens because the defense doesn't get the ball back enough. Sometimes that happens because your offense can't sustain drives. I would say it was a bit of both this time. And STILL they roared back in the 3rd quarter and would have won except for 2 bad plays---Tru's penalty and the strip/fumble on Goff. Good veteran teams make the plays when it counts. Like Earl Thomas chop/stripping Gurley, v. Kupp not making the TD catch, both in the Seattle game. Eagles made the plays when they had to and the Rams made mistakes when it counted. That's the game IMO. What we need to come from this is a battle hardened team that is the one which makes the plays when it matters. ........... 1 by PARAM 7 years 6 months ago Total posts: 13221 Joined: Jul 15 2015 Just far enough North of Philadelphia Hall of Fame too hard on goff/offense? The offense though putting up 28, could have done more. The defense could have covered their TE in the first half and sacked Foles for a big loss when he fumbled his first snap. TruJo could have walked away from Jeffreys. Goff could have thrown shorter instead of trying for Watkins deep and not fumbled. McVay could have called first down runs when we were up by 1 in the 4th and passes on 1st when we were down by 2. Any one of two defenders could have knocked down the last TD pass to Jeffreys. POST #26 It was a loss. We can nitpick every facet of the game except for special teams.....but we can nitpick them too....we SHOULD HAVE had 2 punt blocks. But it was a team loss. They ALL deserve some of the blame. Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. McVay: 77-49, 2 Superbowls, 1 Lombardi............Doubt at your own peril by HopHead Ram 7 years 6 months ago Total posts: 1568 Joined: Jul 21 2016 The Left Coast Pro Bowl Re: too hard on goff/offense? POST #27 RamsFanSince82 liked this post I do not blame Goff on the strip sack, Long blew past Williams and was there and made the play. People act like no other QB has ever been stripped sack and it was on Goff and Goff alone to get rid of the ball quicker. Even the game's best QB's get stripped sacked. It happens. We are a team that has so far proven to be able to take lessons from a loss and come out swinging the next week. I am more pumped up about this week's game than I was for last weeks. This is legitimately for the NFC West crown. POST #29 With Woods coming back and the Seattle secondary in the condition it is, I feel that we are going to see another performance where we will be screaming for more runs for Gurley. BUT....Keep an eye out on what is going on with Wagner. If he is out, we may actually get our wish of a 30 touch Gurley game. I want Wilson to be standing on the sideline for a majority of the game. But only to a certain degree. I'll take Woods or Kupp over Watkins any day. Just not seeing a consistent effort from Watkins. If Woods is at full strength, I think he could make a difference. 1 Reply 3 / 4 1 3 4 Display: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by: AuthorPost timeSubject Sort by: AscendingDescending Jump to: Forum Rams/NFL Other Sports Rams Fans United Q&A's Board Business 39 posts Jul 11 2025
