Rams the Legends live on wrote:As far as morality that is for each to determine of his volition. Man as a species has only had one adaptable ability over the course of history that was using our mind so we could survive. So we invented long range weapons to better our chances. Sling, spear, bow and now gun.

Absent these we never had a chance and there would be no site like this because animals would have hunted us into extinction. I myself hunt, kill, clean and eat.
I can't speak for every hunter but I do say I can understand the religion the hunt was for earlier native Americans.

It's a good point that we would not likely survived if not for our minds and eventually weaponry to even the playing field. And again, it's about food. As you stated yourself you eat.

The blood sport of killing a leopard, lion, elephant or other trophy type animal is where I feel the line is crossed from survival to pleasure. imo.

I thought the topic is whether Kroenke shouldn't be involved in the sport channel

Well just like in this thread there are different opinions on the subject. ESK's venture in this sports channel about all hunting will rub some folks the wrong way as Elvis and StLoserFan just defined.
A bit risky here in a blue state where he is trying to win every fan he can get. imo

Perhaps the British are still concerned about us and our guns after that skirmish in Lexington / Concord. 8-)

I have no idea since I have never done a big game hunt. I believe I have heard in the past the meat is used and/or given to orphanages or such and I have also heard the meat is used to feed other predators that hunt the animals in nature.

Which again I am only going by what I have heard, I have not pulled up any articles or done any research to fact check if what I have said I heard is in fact the case or not.

For those who seek it just for the thrill I can make no judgement call. At least under our current system. A system where the thrill will not be hunted into extinction. I like I said have no clue what is done with the animal but I am sure the conservatory puts it to some kind of use.

When I was younger one of the most life changing presidents for me to ever read about was Theodore Roosevelt. I was enamored by how he was a big game hunter for trophies and so I wanted to do that as well. He of course even though just that started American conservation and setting aside land and habitats.

My wanting to do that changed after I went in the service the thrill to hunt just to kill is no longer there for me.

However others seeking whatever thrill, climbing a mountain, jumping from a plane, or in this case big game hunting. I have no negative opinion cause like I said if the kill is put to some good use and someone can get a head mounted out of it so be it.

Personally I have never found mounted heads all that ascetic and anymore is just not my cup of tea. When I was younger I thought it would be a thrill that thrill no longer exist for me. I hunt now because for me I love nature and I can get out and away from complicated life and just enjoy the simple. Also is a great time to bond with friends. I also love all the Elk and Deer, sausage and pepperoni my butcher will make for me on my order.

In years past I would have had a big problem with just hunting big game for the thrill. However knowing the rules and regulations set forth on it now. I have no problem because I just hate to see anything go to waste and killing for waste does not sit right with me.

As far as people watching that is up to them as long as legal I have no problem. While I will not watch it my feelings are no different on that than someone watching something else they may like that is legal such as snuff films or other certain types of porn. Same for movies and music. Is a lot I will not watch or listen to but if if is not illegal. I raise no fuss I just don't tune in. Or do the activity.

The problem with most hunting shows is that they are filming "Pay to Hunt." They are making it a rich man's game. My wife was a peta member until she met me and the German Shorthair Pointers I had at that time (Smoker, Stuffer and Nolan). Now she eats pheasant quail and dove.
What turned her around was seeing how happy the dogs were to be going hunting. The first three are gone and lost my fourth Shorthair Prairie last year. Now it is the six year old sisters Mini and Dixie and the 13 month old puppy: Smoke.

Legal isn't always right, although anytime the thought and PC Police get involved in a topic I tend to side with the attacked. So no issue with Stan owning and promoting a hunting channel.

Never liked the idea of sport hunting. Hunting for food, to survive, sure.

To me, sport hunting should be done buck naked with weapons only available on the ground or in the trees. Break a branch, make a spear. Use stones. It's a fair fight that way.

Now that's big time sport hunting with two possible results. Kill a lion or save a gazelle.

As far as Kroenke and this story.....I'd like to know more

At my age I'd starve if I hunted naked. One look and all the prey would be scared away.

This would rival Naked and Afraid for sure. We should produce this sucker and get it on cable.

We could call it Naked And Deadly, or Hunting Naked.

Problem would be not enough girls hunt so we'd probably have to sell it to Lifetime Network or something.. :?
