'Hard Knocks' series about Rams garners four Sports Emmy nominations

Gary Klein

The Rams’ performance in their return to Los Angeles last season was anything but award-worthy.

But a television production documenting their 2016 training camp is in line for possible honors.

HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Training camp with the Los Angeles Rams” garnered four Sports Emmy nominations.

The series was nominated for outstanding serialized sports documentary, outstanding camera work, outstanding music direction and outstanding post-produced audio/sound.

Winners will be announced May 9.

The Rams begin their off-season workout program April 10 in Thousand Oaks.

since it's now "out there" i guess i can share this.... a good friend and neighbor of mine is a freelance filmmaker and cameraman and his wife is an executive producer and documentarian, he's worked for nfl films for 30+ years and was the head video photographer for the inside the nfl series and all of the hard knocks episodes... he and his wife have spearheaded several nfl film and media projects.

anyway, in early january, he told me confidentially that hard knocks continued to film the rams throughout the season, until the last game, it was their intention all along to cover the rams 2016 season in full and do a follow up to the preseason segment, to show how they fared their first year back in los angeles...

the kicker he said? hard knocks had a camera in fisher's office when demoff came in and fired him, it was all caught on camera... when i asked if this would be included he said "hell yeah"...

when he told me this he said that netflix would carry it but it looks like amazon got it instead, interesting, could be an intriguing watch, the fisher firing alone could make it worth a watch, i'm sure the irony won't be lost on the producers, fish firing foles on camera only to be fired himself on camera....

ha ha....

interesting that most (all?) of the early publicity for the series has been sure to mention the fisher firing as something that will be covered, eh? as i mentioned to you in january, my friend said it was pretty incredible stuff, in fact he believes that fish and demoff had completely forgotten that fish's office was not only still fitted with cameras, but live cameras...

anyway, thanks for keepin' it under your hat (and thanks to others), ha ha!

I wonder if they have video of Fisher calling Dickerson to tell him that he's not welcome on the sidelines/can't have extra sideline passes.

If you haven't watched the series, you may be missing something. THE most entertaining NFL show I have ever seen.

The Cardinals were a SB contending team in 2015 which played very well. It will be real interesting to see how they portray our shit show last season.

Truly amazing how entertaining our Rams have become. 4-12 and I still always have a great time with our team.

GO RAMS!!!
