We still have to add 2 people to the salary cap. Right now we count the top 51, I believe monday it counts the 53 man roster so that adds $1.66 million. Then we have to pay the practice squad so however much we sign those 10 guys for. The $5 million looks nice right now but we really don't have that much.

Davis to Cleveland.

Mary Kay Cabot ‏@MaryKayCabot

Confirming report by http://ESPN.com 's Jeremy Fowler that QB Austin Davis on way to #Browns for physical, will sign if passes

Nick Wagoner ‏@nwagoner

If Davis ends up with Browns, hope he does well. Didn't work out in STL but always appreciated what a stand up guy he was after rough games.

Jim Thomas ‏@jthom1

Davis Threw only 5 passes in preseason for Rams; really wasn't given a chance to make roster in camp.

Patrick Karraker ‏@PatrickKarraker

As much as I bash the Rams' depth, Austin Davis never had a chance at being one of their top three QBs but could easily start in Cleveland.

Cleveland's been the team that I kept gravitating toward being the best opportunity for Davis...had he signed before the preseason anyway. Now, they've got McCown, who usually implodes, Manziel, who's hurt again and not very good and...? I don't believe they even have a third QB right now. Davis would have been getting significant playing time this preseason and might have secured the 2nd spot by now.

But, good for him as he may still have a shot as bad as I think their QB situation is right now. It's kind of funny, when thinking about who Davis reminds me of, Brian Hoyer comes to mind.

Iirc Cleveland inquired about Davis around the time they were rumored to have interest in Bradford.
I'll say this much, if Manziel is the qb of the future for them id think Davis is a better guy to start than mcown.

Karrakers response is interesting. Is he making his statement based on his skillset or that he was least favored for some reason? I mean he couldn't crack the rotation in StL "but could easily start in Cleveland" isn't a ringing endorsement for McCown or Manziel..

I think Karraker is grudgingly admitting that Davis was the 4th best QB on the Rams roster and becomes the best on Clevelands. Surprising to me he says this with how negative he is towards the Rams.
